ORIGINAL: brightspot Never cared for her, looks or an actress, not even as a speaker for refugees. each is certainly entitled to their own opinions, but as to being a "speaker for refugees" she did far more. http://www.ahepburn.com/ as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador she traveled to Africa, Asia, and Latin America until her death in 1993. "She was an inspiration," said UNICEF Executive Director Carol Bellamy, "she brought enormous world attention to children. She raised the profile of the challenges they face." http://www.ahepburn.com/ahcf.html her children continued her work by establishing a fund to continue to heighten public awareness and support the causes of neglected and abused children. she also was nominated 5 times for academy awards. not too shabby for someone who nearly starved during the nazi occupation of her country. I think she was one of the greatest actresses ever. If she had done nothing more than Breakfast At Tiffany's, that alone would be enough to put her in the books, in my opinion. As for her work on behalf of children...that can only speak for itself. She cared enough to actually do something, rather than sit back and enjoy her riches and fame. A classy woman, to be sure. And also a heartbreakingly beautiful one. In many ways, she reminds me of someone I know personally, but even without that, I would hold her in high esteem. Bob
