OP, I think you're making a gross (On several levels) over-generalization.
We all have preferences; make yourself worthy of that which you seek.
As for me, I take jiu jitsu and MMA classes.  Great fun and great workout but, it's one of the first things in many, many years, that I decided to do just for me.

MMA!  I wish the arthritis would allow that, it looks like a seriously good reason to get sweaty!

FR, after read thru

In the US the figures are running somewhere in the area of 2/3 of the population is overweight & a 1/3 meet the clinical definition of obese . . . . . . My experience with the out-&-organized kink world is that the rates are about the same, tho' the experience at munches & such can skew perception because the middle-aged & older tend to be more greatly represented, & thus there could be perceived to be more heavy-set persons . . . . .

Personally, staying fat to keep people like the OP far, far away from me sounds like a winning formula . . . . . . If being seen as 'too large' prevents interaction with the small-minded, then okay . . . . . . .

*goes to leave, turns back*

Oh. Yeah. & that's right, it's so easy to lose weight that anyone who isn't 'normal' body size is clearly a 'bad', 'lazy', 'uncaring', 'whatever' person . . . . . & those of 'normal' body size are clearly superior specimens who deserve to get whatever they want based on that supremely 'normal' body mass . . . . . They've got a golden ticket, they've got a golden ticket -- where do they get to cash it in?

*snickers*

Hi, Lady Hibiscus----
I am disclaiming this right off by saying that I am not giving you medical advise, just my experience.  I have had TMJ for as long as I can remember (Really, really bad TMJ: bone's worn down, jaw opens about 2/3 what it should, amazing pain to the point where docs have wanted me on constant doses of narcotics or other addictive things--and, I laugh in their face and tell them I'll use such things PRN but no, I won't allow them to kill me years early.  So, wicked bad TMJ: you get the picture).  I also, a bit over a decade ago, while working in a psych facility, sustained a neck and shoulder injury that has caused fabulous nerve impingement that flares up, trigger point pain of an exquisitely elevated variety, etc.
I don't like girley exercise.  If you find Davan bouncing around in a powder-pink leotard doing aerobics, back away slowly, as I'm only a step away from having a gun in a bell tower, lol!  I like push-ups, weight-lifting, hitting heavy bags, etc.
Several doctors told me: don't do it, it'll aggravate the situation.  So, I have generally not exercised in recent years: I hate running and, as noted above, there are certain exercises that I just dislike muchly.
I am sure that said doctors would have hissy fits were I to tell them that I'm doing jiu jitsu/MMA.  I look forward to talking with them about the diminished pain, actually.
I got to a point in late May where I said, "F*ck it, I'm doing it".  This decision was related to desiring to increase my personal sense of safety as well as the fact that I'm not getting any younger, carpe diem and such.  So, I talked with the instructors and the school owners about my concerns and I signed up.
My pain level generally is about 1/3 or less than it used to be.  My mobility, after only 3 months, is better in my neck and even a tiny bit better in my jaw (One can only do so much with bone spurs and worn down bone) is better than it has been in years.  My hand isn't numb nearly as often from the nerve impingement in my shoulder.  Thankfully, I am a naturally strong, flexible person, so that helps.
What I'm saying is, for me, it was arthritic deterioration and other conditions be damned: I'm trying it and not only do I love the energy of it, the new friends I am making, the greater sense of confidence, etc., I am in so much less pain, it's astonishing.  As much as I moved with normalcy, as much mental control as I exerted to push through pain, there's something much more effective about being on top of someone or having someone on top of you and grappling to win that'll pull one's mind away from restricting movement far more effectively.
Now, am I going to go try to be a professional MMA fighter?  Hell no: a good blow to my jaw would suck.  Repeatedly doing that would make the situation much worse.  I would consider doing competitions where head-gear is worn (While I would hate wearing it).
Might I eventually engage in grappling competitions (Where you aren't making strikes to the face or other part of the body), yeah, I may.
So, what I'm saying and, it's actually relevant to the thread, is that if it interests you, look into it.  Find a school that suits you.  And, if you want to talk more about it, feel free to cmail me privately.

I would just like to know why the fat threads are, with extremely few exceptions, always focused on fat women. Whether it is fat dominant women, fat submissive women, fat switch women, or just fat women in general, the theme is the same: fat women, as though they are the only ones who get fat or that it's worse for women to be fat than men.

What a great point, sassy. It is all about the fat females. Like somehow it's okay to be fat if you're male, but it's not okay if you're female.

Yeah, that's the impression I get from every swinging one of the 10 billion or so that have popped up here since I first joined.
