Pain is one thing I never understood. When I watched the video below, I thought the first half was very hot. You could see the sexual energy and arousal in the sub. However in the second half she got a good beating and was in pain. I cringed watching it. I don't get it? Why would anyone subject themselves to the pain?

Okay....well one of the most painful, unenjoyable things in the world to me is a shiatsu massage. Many people enjoy them immensely.

Many things can be exciting about pain....Just to name a few...It can be endured to please another person, it can heighten the sexual arousal for some people, for others it can be a challenge they enjoy, an emotional release, a form of surrender to someone in particular...etc etc.

To the op....in my brain the thoughts of receiving pain are sensual and erotic to me until the actual physical act begins and then my brain screams "Fuck, this hurts!" My brain fights it and yet my body becomes extremely aroused. It's a constant conflict for me. Before the pain starts I fantasize about it, I hate it when it's occurring, and then when it's over I go right back to that fantasy mode.

Penn Jillette, that big loud guy, talks about being interested in "pain without injury or fear" and I think that is very important. If you are not scared and not being really injured, pain becomes much more like other stimuli. This may sound very silly, but maybe think of it like salt. Salt!

You do not want to have salt all the time unless you are a real weirdo, and too much salt is still no good. But a good hard salty flavor on salt and vinegar potato chips is great! And you would not want pain all the time, and unless you are a crazy there will always be amounts of pain that are too much. But suffering as an expression of submission to the person you serve can be great!

Uhm, there is also stuff about pain and endorphins and things that make your autonomic nervous system go "WHOOOOO" but at least as far as the headspace goes I think that is an ok explination probably. Even if you do not like salt and vinegar potato chips although you should they are delicious.

I enjoy pain for many many reasons.
I realized along time ago that what many considered painful I considered calming and relaxing because of the head space in which it puts me.
I like pushing myself physically, mentally and emtionally and all of those happen with the use of pain.
I also am an adrenaline junkie and the rush I get from being flogged so hard it leaves welts, is indescribable.

Sometimes I can't take any pain as I am not in the right frame of mind and I know he is disappointed as he can tell and other times I want more than he is giving me....I do it sometimes just to please but then sometimes I get in a certain head space where it makes me feel so good and at peace in a certain way...it is hard to explain...but my body reacts much like the girl in the video but have never had two people giving me pain at the same time and really wouldn't want that.

control. surrendering it to the one inflicting the pain and having it snatched away whenever he wishes as well. pain provides a physical reminder of my station. what i am, who he owns, and that my body is his. the internal struggle and fight or flight sensations that reverberate through my mind as it occurs. it is humbling, freeing, physically arousing, and most of all something i willingly endure in spite of the discomfort it brings merely because it pleases him.

Thanks everyone for sharing your insights and personal experiences with pain. You all did a fantasitc job at articulating the feelings and emotions you experience. It may not be something for me but now I have an understanding how it can be erotic and exciting and even calming. I've always been curious about the fascination with pain. Thanks for helping me understand.

I don't enjoy pain, yet I would not give it up. As do many men, I have a hard time letting of my defenses emotionally. Yet I can't keep them up when I am in pain. For for me pain is a way of growing emotionally closer to a woman. Of course, the precondition is that there already is a close emotional bond. The incredible bonding is well worth the pain.

I do not like pain, but Master has showed how pain can be channeled by pleasure. He does not beat me that is not our thing. When he spanks me it is the submission that gets me off not the pain. Just because you are a sub does not mean you have to like pain. Some do others do not.

I can't always do that with pain, it's something I need to focus a little on and absorb, and it's something I've always found easier with thuddy pain than stingy (though nipple clamps nearly always...)

The thing I love about pain, is not actually feeling it, I like I dunno being a bit of a trophy on occasion, not sure if that makes sense
