Which hurts the most, nipple piercings or tattoo on the shoulder blade. Anerin, They're really two different kinds of pain... The piercing is pretty quick, and then a dull throb sometimes while it heals. Tatttoing is like scraping a fork tine over your skin, with pressure, over and over again -- it burn/sting/hurts and can get really intense, especially if the artist is working in an area recently worked (like doing shading of color-over-color or working on small, intricate areas). Tattooing also has some lasting irritations during healing which are different from piercing. First, a tatt usually covers a lot more area of flesh. Mine don't usually -hurt- per se, once I leave the studio. I can put a shirt or pants on, etc., (except foot tattoos -- the one foot tatt I had I couldn't wear shoes for 2 weeks!!!), and the ones on my back are usually no problem to sleep on, etc.,... BUT... about the 2nd day, the itching starts, and, for me, it lasts for about 8 days and is RELENTLESS no matter how much aftercare I do. Oh.. and don't pick the scabs -- I can't stress that enough. My daughter ended up with some really noticeable "holidays" (areas where the ink/dye doesn't take) because she picked at the scabs/loose skin on one of her tats -- she learned the hard way. I'm in the middle of having 4 different pieces worked on, and I'm going in every week and having a different piece done (so that each piece gets worked on every 4 weeks). Hope this helps... oh...and congrats to the OP -- very cool tatt. DC
