I am hard of hearing and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to make sure that subs are able to effectively communicate with me?

LillyoftheVally -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 2:45:55 PM)

How do you make sure people in day to day life can?

daintydimples -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 2:53:26 PM)

Yeah, what Lily said.

GypCwoman -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 2:55:22 PM)

Tashina....I'm a severly hearing impaired slave.....I worried about it too, but thankfully Master came up with some simple hand genstures that works great while in session...he may be my sadist but he has heart...talk it over ahead of time, in person and work it out....not hard and makes for an erotic session with no words.......just looks and gestures...

tashina -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 2:59:09 PM)

ty I do know sign and have considered using it, along with allowing a certain touch that would only be to get my attention.  As far as in my everyday life I use a combo of sign, and little cards that I give people  the coffee shop people, the docs office, garage ect.  I don't think the card thing would work well.

I can't see any picture on your profile, but consider a waist chain, as well as wrist and ankle chains (or ropes or other jewelery) that have medium to short lenghts of tethers hanging from them, so if hubby grabs and yanks them.......a big no no in mosts situations, you know you gotta look at him and see what's up.

Don't know what they would look like on you, as I said, no picture but I am sure you can come up with something dastardly devatating.

There is a Dom here who's hard of hearing, I forget his name and I do believe people may of given him suggestions of what to do, as far as communication goes in the thread what do to when you're the only one single at a club or something like that. but it's a very long thread or was when it was around if it's not around now.

BitaTruble -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 3:11:57 PM)

Without knowing why you are hard of hearing, it's a bit difficult to give advice but, first I would recommend seeing an audiologist (who may suggest you see an otologist) and perhaps get fitted for some sort of hearing device if you qualify. There are so many variables though but first up would be to get an audiogram for sure, then go from there.

daintydimples -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 3:16:15 PM)

Seriously I do not see this situation as being oh so different from your real life. Hand gestures and actual touching work wonders. I know this, my son is LD and had auditory discrimination issues. He would "hear" a request to take the trash out or pick up his socks so much better if he was touched. I would think a creative person in your situation could do an awful lot with gestures, touching, and facial expression. The laser look of doom works!!

tashina -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 3:20:56 PM)

I have seen an audiologist and my hearing loss is from nerve damage.  I have hearing aids and hate them!  I  have difficulty distinguishing the difference between someone talking to me, and the sound of a car going by the window.  It all blends together. all hearing aids do is make it louder.  My audiologist said that there really isn't much help for people like me because they can't fix the nerves.  I like the idea of the waist or wrist chains.  I can alter the ones I wear now to have a small tug on them.

daintydimples -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 3:26:14 PM)

I am sure with some ingenuity and creativity you can work this out !!

BitaTruble -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 3:54:35 PM)

Tashina,

My Master has asked me to ask you.. what kind of hearing aids do you have? (He teaches audiology, hence, his interest in the subject.)

stella41b -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 3:57:40 PM)

Have you considered a clown or a mime artist, or someone who has had such training?

Waist chain tethers, AND wrist chain tethers, AND ankle chain tethers. It is gonna be hard for the boy to grab your wrist or waist chain when you are queening him, not much of that is going to be in his vision, just Mrs. Browneye.

And I suspect you have low tone hearing loss........which is why MMMMMMMMPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTT (from your slave) is going to sound alot like a car going by......

have lotsa tassels off of you even if you have to weave something like that in your hair.......

What?

CougarStud -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 4:23:55 PM)

I do a lot of wrestling & mma type fighting (and I am also deaf in one ear) and I know that in the middle of a fight a hand tap (called a tap out) works great in many bdsm situations as far as a safeword. It's not too good at communicating anything but a complete hault to all activity

mnottertail -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/26/2009 4:24:39 PM)

Aileen, is there something in my profile that would prevent me from receiving pictures?

Some setting or something.........

cromaH -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/27/2009 1:43:33 AM)

The male subs are outnumbering the female doms so getting them to the communication with you may be no problem. I am a male sub from abroad anyway who would communicate with you with pleasure.

tashina -> RE: Hard of hearing Fem Dom (8/27/2009 7:05:14 AM)

First I want to address the person wanting to know what kind of hearing aids I have  i have the MicroTech Sound Science in the ear with multi settings and auto phone adjustments. I have had them re-molded 2x ans the right one still hurts after only a couple of hours.

As fat as a pic in profile I don't have one yet.  I have never been all that comfortable with having them taken, and the ones I do have are of me while in ceremony and I don't show those to just anyone.

ty all for the many suggestions, they will be helpful.  I like the tap out thing, and the idea of no talking at all.
