I have respect for the way Bill Moyers presents topics and I wasn't disappointed with this video. I have to admit, I had to fast forward through much of the personal stories. They hit too close to home. Recently I had just left an appointment with the doctor who has performed all of my foot reconstructive surgeries. We were trying to figure our when to do what, hopefully, will be the last operation. Since I had surgery in April, he felt it best to try and hold off until the beginning of next year in order to give everything a chance to heal. I've been fortunate to have good health coverage so far. When I arrived home, in the mail was a letter from my insurance company saying they had been bought out by another company. For now my coverage would remain the same but when it was time to renew (the first of the year) that may change depending on the decission of the new company given the fact I have a pre-existing condition. Of course I called my doctor, explained the issue and am now trying to figure out how soon I can schedule the operation. Ironically, the insurance would pay for surgeries, no problem, but won't cover the cost of preventative care. I won't be able to afford new insurance and I don't know how I'll be able to afford the medications I need. I've been without coverage before, but that was before my "pre-existing". I look forward to the next installment of this journal. Thanks for sharing. btw...Esinn, I think you mean Bill Maher.
