For me it is Elton John's "Bennie and the Jets" which I am listening to right now...It was released about four years before I graduated from high school and I hated it  but later grew to like it and listening now...I like it more each year that goes by.

That's amazing - I mean, genuinely amazing. At around the time you posted that, I was listening to "Bennie and The Jets", and thinking about how much I hated it in high school and trying to remember when it was that I first realized I actually liked it. I swear to god I'm not making that up; at about 20:00 my time I threw "Yellow Brick Road" into my CD player as I fixed dinner. This is really fucking weird!

But because I was thinking about that, I am actually in a position to give you a well-considered answer. "Crocodile Rock" is another, and "Saturday Night's Alright" as well. I don't know why, but when I was younger, I really didn't care much for Elton John. I just didn't realize what a good songwriter he was; I think it was over my head at the time. Olivia Neutron Bomb's bubble gum hits, "Have You Never Been Mellow" and "If You Love Me Let Me Know" used to make me start frantically searching for pencils to use to poke out my eardrums, but for some inexplicable reason I actually enjoy them now. They're still mediocre songs, but they're pleasant to the ear, and I've grown to like them. "What's Up", by the 4 Non-Blondes... I can't believe i didn't use to like that. "Coconut," by Harry Nilsson, was another.

I think a lot of these songs, I didn't care for because they were played constantly on the radio, and I just got fed up with them. After they became more obscure, and i didn't get bludgeoned about the head with them every time I turned on the radio, I think I started to appreciate them more. I tend to reject trendy things, but often find myself gravitating toward them after their 15 minutes is over.

I still hate "I Shot The Sheriff," though. And I hope that never changes.

The one that I coudnt stand as a teenager was Joy To The World by Three Dog Night, and not so surprisingly I hate it more now. It was just way over done and like Panda, I got fed up with hearing that song all the time on the radio, as if it were the only song out there.

The one that I appreciate more now, that I didn't like or really understand then is I'd Love To Love You Baby by Donna Summer. I can't believe that they allowed it to be played on the radio so much in 1975. It is one HOT song! The moaning..the lyrics..oh yeah baby [;)]

I still don't like Galvanise, I much prefer 'My elastic eye' or 'Loops of fury'
