Saw Inglorious Basterds and loved it. But then again I think Tarantino is a god and can do no wrong.
I would like to see Halloween just because Rob Zombie is such a freak and I love horror movies. Hopefully it's as scary as the previews made it look.

I was worried about Inglorious Bastards, mostly because of the "I want my scalps" line delivered in the trailers.  It just looked so goofy and not in a good way, but luckily it sounds like it's getting good reviews.  I hope it just isn't because I've been hearing from that feel everything Tarantino does is gloriousness.  Which, I mean, normally is the case but he's human. <.<

Halloween 2, eh... typically the sequels to horror movies suck more.  But Rob Zombie isn't typical and despite me not personally liking his genre he knows it inside and out and would probably not to do a terrible horror movie, unless it was meant to be that way. :)

I've seen Basterds, and love it. Great dialogue, very funny in spots, and that explosive brand of violence that Tarantino favors.

It was a toss up between Halloween 2 and The Hurt Locker this weekend, and I chose the latter, so I am still waiting to see Halloween, but it looks good.

Inglorious Basterds has had mixed reviews over here. Three main points, one that the film didn't know what it wanted to be, second, too much repetition in the film and it went on far too long and thirdly, it made the Nazis look like the victims and the Jews the criminals. As one critic said, its not as bad as the film's detractors make out but its not that good either, this is not Tarantino back on form. Personally I'm not a Tarantino fan so I'll leave it at that.

I went into both with very high hopes and wasn't disappointed in one case

"Inglorious Basterds" was great. Violent, humorous, great dialogue....everything that's great about what Tarantino does. I'm with Aileen in that I think he usually does no wrong and he sure didn't here. Brad Pitt was great in the role and I loved the ending.

Now, onto Mr. Zombie He's someone else that I usually love everything he does. "House of 1000 Corpses," "Devil's Rejects," and the first "Halloween" are three of my favorite movies. "Halloween 2" was a disappointment. The beginning was great, the ending was good but not so much at all points in between. The original sequel wasn't near as good as the original either but there was even more of a gap with Zombie's first and second parts, in my opinion. There was just so much he could've done better. I know, everyone's a critic, but I just had such high expectations. I gave it a 6 or so on a scale of 1-10. I'm not sorry I saw it but I'm certainly not raving about it. Now, if only he'll go back to making original pix...that's what he excels at

I think he actually pulled the film together pretty well, considering how much ground it covered, but Taratino said in an interview that if he would have put everything in it he wanted, he would have had to made a mini-series out of it.

Re: making the Jews look like criminals....well, I suppose the Basterds could have been defined as such, depending on if you believe war has any rules.

This is a bit off topic but wasn't the Nuremburg Trials about war having rules and there being a standard to which countries and peoples should endeavour to uphold? This is just a film and anything can go and Glorious Basterds is just comic book violence when all is said and done but one suspects, its main audience, yound males, don't analyse what they consume, just absorb what they see.

Oh nooooo....says the soon to be 42 year old woman. His movies aren't made to entertain me???
I walk into a movie expecting only to be entertained. I never expect historical accuracy unless it's a documentary, which this wasn't.

Young males make up the largest section of the cinema audience. In Britain 65% of cinema audiences are under 37, the majority of those (approx 65%) are males. I understand the demographics are similar in the US which I suppose is why most films are aimed at the younger age group of males.

Each to their own, my imagination requires something to engage my mind to entertain me but that isn't everybody's taste. Good job you don't expect accuracy because you won't get any but this film as I have acknowledged is just comic book fodder where everything and anything goes. It's juvenile but what does it matter if it consumes an hour or two.

How cute. Your superior mental capacity also includes the infamous "back handed slam" Such an appealing personality quirk. Bet it impresses all the ladies.

I'm told contract killers don't use samurai swords in real life either so that Kill Bill is a total inaccuracy.

This film is a remake of an obscure original apparently.

No shit.

I love Tarantino's work and am looking forward to seeing this movie also.

Not into scary movies so won't see the Halloween one.

I don't claim to have a superior mental capacity, I just treat what little I have with respect. I haven't seen Inglorious Basterds, just seen some excerpts and read the reviews and from what little I know about the film, it is Tarantino that shows little respect for his audience, not me.

Normally I don't care if a topic I start gets off track but please keep the political crap out of this one. Please? There's a whole section for arguing about such things and this isn't it.

Tarantino, btw, does nothing to disrespect his audience. He's one of only a few who treats his audience as if they have a shred of fucking sense, frankly. His movies, to me, are sheer joy and, as Aileen brilliantly stated, I don't go into them expecting complete historical accuracy unless I've been told it's a documentary and will thus hopefully be totally factual. It's a movie. It's intended for fun. Lighten up and give it a look, eh? He's a genius

This film might be comic book but it is also political, the fact the director doesn't seem to recognize it as such says a lot about his apparent genius. I know the whole idea behind his movies is the equivalent of pulp fiction and the violence is supposed to be funny but he hasn't succeeded from what I have read but hey, maybe that's a cultural thing. As for genius, if quality of content doesn't count, Goebbels was a genius of sorts too.

Speaking of Goebbels, he has a scene where he nails a gorgeous French woman from behind.
