GoddessImaginos YEs that is a horrible situation and most everyone can understand your need to hurry and your agitation and your worry and fear. However, While yes people always have emergencies wherein they want to get someplace faster -- these emergencies are arbitrary btw -- you can't blame a cop for doing his job. Also, they hear ALL KINDS of excuses why people are speeding and i can guarantee you many people would not hesitate to use a false story of illness etc. You are simply a stranger whom they pulled over for disobeying the law and subsequently putting people in danger. The concept of tell it to the judge is very real. Why? Because the cop is only a witness to what he observes, he does not determine guilt or innocence only a judge is allowed to do that. Could he have been a little more sensitive -- sure, but in all actuality -- why should he have believed you over the last guy he stopped who may have said the same thing only as a falsehood in actuality? Yes, people take things personally in their lives, but you can't expect a stranger to do so. Especially in a situation wherein most people will tell any story they can think of to get out of a ticket. Also, due to the nature of the job, many cops do become desensitized (sp?) to the emotional factor assocaited with people who are strangers and sometimes even with people and situations who are not. They have to -- its a defense mechanism and a protection mechanism. All in all, if you would have lost control of your car in your agitated worried state speeding, and it was found out the cop didn't do anything when he saw you speeding, he, the station, and city would have been liable for any harm you did to someone. And in the end, i am not sure the family of the victims speeding to the hospital to meet their loved ones you harmed (hypothetically) would have understood even though they probably did the same thing. angel
