downwardslave -> Yoga or Martial Arts as a Form of Pain (9/2/2009 4:37:57 PM)

Hello everyone.

Just curious if anyone has experience using martial arts or yoga on their slave as a means of punishment.  i have been doing yoga for three years and staying in some of the poses for a prolonged period can be quite painful!

I've done yoga in the past, still do from time to time but I don't find it painful at all and I can't imagine ever using it as punishment since it's relaxing for me since I occasionally use it as a form of meditation and relaxation. For me it's much more than just stretching and exercise.

I do power yoga and some of the poses are very very difficult and after a few minutes sweat will be shooting off your forehead as your muscles first burn then melt.

yup..better it never feels painful to me...sweating, struggling at times with a position, absolutely..but pain? No, never painful.

I can definitely see yoga being used a punishment, i guess it just depends on the person. But heck, some names for the yoga positions tell they are painful..I remember doing one called excrutiating something..that one hurt.

Yes. Tai Chi (and many partial arts) teaches many different nerve points, and submission locks that are easily done with little effort. I have not had to in a long time, but my slave is in wonder that I could bring pain or pleasure with the lightest touch. A previous slave I had, I would never have used any of these techniques with, as she was pretty delicate in the pain department, and would cry over a hang nail.

Yoga teaches good stretching techniques that may slave does to stay limber for the dances and ritualistic positions that I require during our daily routine. Not to mention until recently she was a pole dancer, so she needed to stay limber and in shape for that as well (though she jokes that I put her through more during my savage times than dancing ever did).

I am taking jiu jitsu and MMA classes and sometimes it is painful but it's far better for pain management than for causing pain for me, knock-on-wood.  I mean, if someone did a submission hold on me or arm-barred me or choke/neck cranked me or any number of other unpleasant things that cause a person to 'tap out', that would hurt: kinda the idea of the things, to win via pain infliction.  If someone did that as a 'punishment' in a supposed relationship, I'd wait until they were asleep and hit 'em with a baseball bat.  That would end the relationship.  :>

"Yoga is stilling the nature of the mind." v.2, Patanjali Yoga Sutras, 200 C.E. (A.D.).
Those with an undisciplined or unfocused mind will find yoga to be a challenge. This begs the question of whether something with great benefit is punishment. In a past thread, many people said that the discipline of engaging in a beneficial practice is punishment. For example, learning to quit smoking would be considered punishment by a great many participants on this site.

Perhaps what you refer to is the initial stage of the yoga practice, called ASANA, in which one engages in physical discipline to increase physical peace and reduce the distraction which the body may present during meditation. This is popularly called Hatha Yoga. Imposing an asana upon another person is contrary to the principles of yoga, and constitutes spiritual abuse. It is contrary to one's own inner development of free choice and self will.

I JUST started Jujitsu, 2nd class was Tuesday night for 3 hours.
Honestly - it must be a form of masochism..
and I don't like or want to get hurt much less deal with pain, bruises or all those pretty marks I LOVE to deliver to another body.
I can see setting yoga poses as a form of concentration, but not just for that.
Pain?
nah, yoga makes Me sweat, and even though I'm not good at it yet,
My body responded better to yoga than all this front rolling, face-falling, tossing about stuff in Jujitsu!

..  then 'why Jujitsu?"
well now.. it is amazing exercize and mental training..
and a couple of My friends are in that dojo.
Let's see how far I go!  ( I went to the chiropractor yesterday!)
Always the best Diva~Zya

Punishment should, imho, be used to correct negitive behavior.
If failure to care for the body is a slave/sub's offence, then yoga or martial arts might be seen as a punishment. Though, i feel this a waped view.
Were a Master/Mistress/Dom/me to require this of their counterpart, i would not view it as punishment, simply corrective training.

such is my view on the matter- fae

So many people seem to lose track of this. Maybe it's the opinion that anything painful must be punishment. What would be the fun in that?

I love Yoga, but am not in any way a masochist, just the opposite in fact. I encourage my subs to take Yoga as the long term benefits are great and it makes for some fun bondage positions. Naked Yoga is even more fun!

Anyone who would use martial arts or yoga as a means of punishment for a slave knows nothing of either.

downwardslave -> RE: Yoga or Martial Arts as a Form of Pain (9/3/2009 2:06:49 PM)

is standing in a corner punishment?  if so, would that punishment be more intense if it is standing in a corner in tree positon?

FelineFae -> RE: Yoga or Martial Arts as a Form of Pain (9/3/2009 2:15:36 PM)

Mr. Musicmystery, your statement makes me think; that being a "disaplined person" is very different in meaning than being a "punished person". Was this what you were getting at?
To be skilled in either yoga or martial art required disapline, self control, and so on.
To be punished means something else all together.
As this applies to the OP, i cannot imagine a crime that could be attoned through the stretching of limbs or chopping of wood-plank.

These are my thoughts, and i am sure others may not agree, but this makes as much reason as i can manage- fae

Yoga is more than assuming it's positions. Doing sit-ups does not make one a soldier.

downwardslave -> RE: Yoga or Martial Arts as a Form of Pain (9/3/2009 2:40:29 PM)

doing situps does not make you a soldier, but being made to do 100 situps could clearly be a form of punishment.

subtlebutterfly -> RE: Yoga or Martial Arts as a Form of Pain (9/3/2009 2:43:45 PM)

100? ..as a PUNISHMENT??? oh come on you can't be serious do you know how long it takes you to do a 100? she could just as well call ya bad boy as a punishment.. [8|]

Why is it on these boards that if one's opinion differs with another's opinion the snark comes out?

Grow a thicker skin and realize if you post here you will have different  view points.  That's what makes this a diverse site.
