I loved The George Gobel Show.  I was only allowed 1/2 hour of TV per day growing up, but Father loved Ol Lonesome George too so that turned into a whole hour.

The original American Bandstand in Philly.   The only way I got to watch it was to go home with a friend after school.

Linayshia, who is older than most

It had to be Starsky and Hutch......I never missed an episode.  I love Emergency too....Randolph Mantooth was totally  to die for....I'd still let the man do mouth to mouth on me......Kevin Tighe didn't age as well.  And ALL of the old Saturday morning cartoons....all of the mind-melting mush that you would be condemned for now if you even let your kids watch any of it!  Hanna-Barbera, Loony toones, Bugs and company.....the whole bunch of them were the best!

Actually, I don't know if your cable or satellite companies carry it around the country, but there's a TV network/channel called RTN...the Retro TV Network...it has a lot of those old shows on it!  It's only been here about 6 motnhs or so, but I did see it advertised in FL....look around for it!

What's not to love about Rocky&Bullwinkle?

I'm taking a detour into the land of the non kink boards and disovered this one. Noone's posted in it in a couple months, but I'm going to throw my 2cents or so in anyway.

My TV watching these days consists mainly of movies(and I'm on the lookout for movie threads), news, and music. The only current show I watch regularly is Survivor , though I stuck with Without A Trace until the bitter end. I've  read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books and would surely watch True Blood if I had HBO. I make noise once inawhile about buying the first season but haven't gotten to it yet. I also like to watch  Law&Order reruns and reruns of some old shows, which  gets me back to the real topic. One of the facts of life(which I never watched or even ever saw) is that some shows age well, others don't.

I recall in the 80's Thursday nights were a TV night for me.I'd watch Fame, Barney Miller, and Hill Street Blues and would usually tape the latter 2 if I knew I'd miss them. I passed on Cheers on Thursday's, though most people I knew loved it.  Hill St  deserves its reputation as being  original and  groundbreaking and cutting edge at that time , but when I watch reruns now it seems really, really tame. I haven't seen Fame ina long time, likely since those long ago Thursday evenings, but would give Barney Miller a chance. Moving up a decade or more  my ex-wife and I went through the Melrose Place phase with millions of others and used to howl with laughter, but I'd bet it would fit the "hasn't age well" category  if I saw it now. I also used to love LA Law and recently discovered that that's being shown and find that I still enjoy it. And Rosanne has held up.

Going back to my  way younger days, and pre-dating most if not everyone posting in this thread ,asa young healthy redblooded boy of the 50's&60's I loved westerns such as Gunsmoke and Bonanza but I can't sit through 5 minutes of an episode now. But I can watch those old Twilight Zone episodes anytime and never tire of them. Ditto for Star Trek......

My pretty one, who doesn't do TV unless doing it with me, was overjoyed when she discovered Bob Newhart reruns were being shown daily and started loading up the DVR. I never cared for it  back in the day but have had fun whiling away some hours watching it with her. Which reminds me of Mary Tyler Moore, who I liked to watch but, again, I don't know if I would now. But, they wereshowing some old Lou Grant episodes  recently and I enjoyed them immensely, but I'm a newspaper junkie which earns that show points.

Somone mentioned thirtysomething asa show which they were addicted to but can't do it now. I didn't watch it much in the original run but afew years later I, again with the ex, became addicted to it (with help fron my old VCR)in syndication. That show had a rabid following who for decades clamored for it's DVD release which finally happened just recently, just a couple months ago. yet again, I wonder if I would like it as much now and suspect that I wouldn't.

Do miniseries count? Does anyone recollect(is anyone even reading these words?) a PBS series from very early 80's or perhaps even late 70's titled I Claudius? Several years back I borrowed the entire set from a friend of mine and enjoyed it just as much as when I originally watched it. On the contrary, when I rewatched the Rich Man Poor Man I couldn't take it seriously, though that can be fun, too.......
