I seriously miss the theater.  Small towns have nice productions but it cannot compare to what I used to see in metropolitan areas.

A Chorus Line in L.A. at the Pantages.
Jesus Christ SUperstar (mulitple time, multiple venues, although the first time was back when it originally toured, with Yvonne Elliman.  Never saw it with Sebastian Bach..somehow, I cant imagine anyone but Ted Neely as Jesus)
Chicago original tour, in Nashville.
Godspell (original production)
Les Mis in London.
Spamalot in London.

i like mine with dark humor in them.  Little Shop, Sweeney, Cannibal! The musical, Rocky Horror, . . . i've seen most of these performed at small venues, they were all amazing feats of art compared to the movie versions (excepting Cannibal!).  The movie versions were generally amazing feats of cheese, a quality i also like but for different reasons.
Don't get me started about the choice of Depp as the Barber in the recent movie--not a bass, not a baritone. Poor casting.

I happened to catch South Pacific from Carnegie Hall on MPT. Brian Stokes Mitchell is amazing and, as much as I love Reba, what were they thinking when they cast her as Nellie Forbush?? That's like putting an AM radio next to a BOSE Wave..
