I don't expect him to be perfect. I don't expect him to do everything better than me. I don't want him to exceed me in every way. Because if he does, then what use am I to him?
I'm a pet in many ways, loved, petted, given treats. I like that a lot.
But I also am of real use to him. I do research for him that he doesn't seem to have the knack for. He doesn't have the patience to spend two hours chasing links in order to eventually get the right keyword that gives him the infomation he requires. He likes having it all at his fingertips when he needs it.
I'm also a better cook. If he did everything else and I was of no use except to applaud him, I'd be unhappy. I'd also figure out that he had to be pretty insecure if he needed to know his partner in life was his inferior in every possible way.
