What is with this overabundance of scammers on CM? I am happy to see  CM actually does have a warning against them. But what about these people (mostly males) who answer the ads from these other people (mostly women) who seem to use the same b s lines about having money they have to invest or some such story. Looking for bank account numbers and so on. I have been surprised to see how often those women seem to get takers ( before the takers are taken :) ).  Is this the thoughts of money or just plain foolishness? Or are some just to trusting?  I wonder myself.

It is not just here it is everywhere, I get about 10 a day over on myspace

Actually the majority of the scammers I hae seen who are the whole "My uncle died I need an american to get the moeny for me" line have always been male, and from male-run countries contacting me. I do occasionally get a female try, but that doesnt go over any better. I got more on myspace than I did here, which is why I no longer bother with myspace.  Scammers will set up shop wherever there is a large population and anonymous contact.

SweetNika -> RE: Why answer scamsthis (9/6/2009 3:37:34 PM)

I had an older woman (my grams age) email me it was obviously a scam but it was funny at the same time. I had a guy on myspace try and convince me to open a bank account for so his boss overseas can pay him and he could come home. He even had a kid join in w/him on the sceme it was rather sad. So the scammers are every where, although I have yet to see any on tagged.

Scamers are one of the reasons I don't bother with face book and similar sites. I get enough here and on several of my email accounts which are dealt with ....Block & delete

My use of face book was to aquire muisc and videos for my own personal enjoyment. I occasionally will allow access to someone I already know. As far as the scammers, I simply delete their emails for the most part.

Here's what people should do - take the message from one scammer and send it off to another scammer. Then they can email each other back and forth trying to scam each other.

That presupposes that they'd fall for each others'  stories.
