this with your cat. My two year old was just examined today and they found a lump in her throat area. They ran blood work and i didn't catch what part was on the border line high area. I needed to talk to the Dr. but she had to leave the room for something.
They don't know if it is the lymph nodes or her thyroid. At this point they are going with an infection in the area and have given me anti-biotics for her for a week. They want to see her again in a week.

Anybody ever gone through this with their cat?

Thanks..I am worried about her. She seems to be her usual frisky self except for tonight. She was at the Vets all day and seems quiet.

My animals including cats always act strange when coming back from the vets espcially when they have been poked and proded at. I would defanitly follow the vets instructions on the antibiotics but if your still concernd or have questions call them Tuesday morning (since most are closed monday).

The only time I had an issue with an infection in the throat area it turned out to be the result of a squirrel bite and it was a mess that cost loads to clear up. Be glad that whatever it is has been caught early...kudos to you for being on top of things. And best wishes for your kitty.

My cats are constantly getting abscesses in the mouth and throat areas from licking themselves and getting sticker-prickers caught in their mouth. Usually it swells up, looks awful for a week or two, then pops itself. I always keep Keflex on hand and I have the correct dosage charts so I can avoid having to take them to the vet every time. With as many kitties as I have, I'd be bankrupt if I always took them to the vet.

So it could just be something like that, which is why the antibiotics have been prescribed. As long as she doesn't get worse, just let her decide on her activity level. Cats are pretty savvy about taking care of themselves! Best of luck on this clearing up easily!

This is on the muscle? area in the throat area. I don't think this will pop itself. They are both indoor cats...

The Nurse says it could be cancer...I am hoping not!  That is the worse case scenario. It could be her thyroid or lymph node problem.

Hope it disappears!  I am really attached to her and my boy cat. He is ok.
