I'm not in your area, but I have some experiance in starting and running local groups, and I'll gladly share some info. One of the first things you'll want to do is a Google search, see if there is already a group in your area. If there is, you should definitely join them. You can still start your own group, if you want, but if the one there is filling your needs, you won't have to go to the trouble. Secondly, you'll want to come up with a cool name or acronym, and start a Yahoo egroup. The egroup serves 2 important purposes, it provides a communications center where all your members can get scheduled meeting info, and discuss topics outside of the meetings, and it also puts you on the web semi officially. This means that you can be found with a search engine, so that others in your area can do a Google search and find you. Once you have a core group, anywhere from 2 members up, you can get together and iron out the logistics, such as meeting place and times/dates, etc...Once you have a few people wanting to meet, the rest is just working out structure, officers, bylaws, all that boring stuff.
