I just want some definitions so I can post them on my profile so potential Doms can realise that switch does not mean slave (and all caps is shouting and using vulgarity is a major turn-off and wanting me to IM you is too personal).

Well you can write that all in your profile, but you won't be able to make some people read it, so you will still get strange emails. I just block and ignore, unless I am in a mood, then I email back something snarky before I block them.

All ready block and delete the email. I just did not report it for the vulgar language like I did to the last dom cussing me out for being opinionated.

Definitions won't do you any good. Who says a slave can't be opinionated? she maybe a slave but she ain't HIS slave! Also just because My girl obeys whatever decision I make doesn't mean she hasn't got her own opinion about it, it just means she obeys whether or not she agrees.

To the OP,with all due respect, If you must explain that concept, you do not want them to be a potential anything

OP, they have gotten to their current level of sophistication and elegance by never listening to anyone.  They're not going to make an exception for you.  Quit thinking how you can get them to understand and just get rid of them.

Lass, so your opinionated and will give back what you get I imagine. Good for you, I respect and enjoy that in a woman no matter what her orientation. Some wankers are so lacking in their own confidence in who they are, they just can't stand others appearing stronger than they are. Your also a switch. Again well done you at least know what you are and the path you'll take and hopefully with the right person for you.

well that's not necessarily true, i mean we all have to start somewhere. i remember when i didnt understand a lot, im sure even some people on the boards remember it. and i dont think there is any dom/switch/submissive that has been here for a while on the boards that arent willing to answer the questions of new comers, or at least put them in their place if they are having a hard time getting it, or are out of line.

edit: and i agree with the post below from NuevaVida also not your job to educate them or send a million emails about your preferences  if they were smart and new they would go to the boards, or start doing online research.

I have some things to say about labels in my profile.  I say worry less about the label and just be yourself.  When you find a good fit, you will know.

If you receive emails that you do not like, delete them and don't respond.  Putting a label in your profile is not going to prevent someone from being a jerk.

I totally agree.

Forget about fucking labels and just be yourself. If someone else wants to label you, more power to them...as long as you continue to just be yourself.

Chances are if they are civil enough to read the profile and definitions they really already know the differences lol.
If they are upset you have an opinion at all I would be surprised if they even bothered to read the profile.

I totally totally agree. If you receive something you don't like, just delete it. You don't list your preferences for mail you want to receive from the USPS, do you? (And if you do, please tell me how to do it, because I am so sick of "trash" mail....)

I heard a story about a guy that purposly subscribed to as much "trash" mail as he could find to mail him free mail.    he would get piles and piles of it (he used it in his fireplace in the winter)   eventually the post office put him on a no junk mail list cause it was costing them to much to deliver to him.   I don't know if it's a true story or an urban legend but it's amusing none the less.

shadowowl,  the part about the post office putting him on a no junk list doesn't make sense.  The post office makes most of their money on junk mail.

I personally knew a guy that would take those "no postage necessary" envelopes and tape them to cinder blocks. They never came back and he was taken off many many mailing lists.

from my understanding it was because he was not in the city and it was a long drive but as i said could just be an urban legend and it might have been 20-30 years ago so no idea just thought it was a funny story.  ;)

Don't worry so much. Whack jobs don't usually bother to read a profile anyway.
They'll still solicit you even if you call yourself a blue arsed fly.

I don't know. I don't think a box on a website can quite do me justice. I guess that can sound conceited, but in all honesty, I just do better by people getting to know me off the screen. Labels don't fit so well and those that have attached themselves to me are not necessarily ones I foresaw when I first started poking around on CM. I am switch, but then again, I DO have the capacity to be a slave to the right person. I am switch, but I spend most of my inner life in the submissive end of the spectrum and don't even know how much interest I have in indulging the dominant part on any kind of full time basis. It is still there, alive and well, but it is not a priority at this time and my choice of partners for such a relationship seems to be slim since I seem to be extremely selective chemistrywise. Other labels, too, fit and don't fit and I don't know what good it does to give my very own textbook definition of a BDSM term. My guess is it would just stir up hornets' nests of mail challenging my assertions even though they would clearly be my definitions for my own practices, someone would have to take issue.

I don't think it would really do any good. Those who decide to cuss in emails probably were not the kind I would be after in the first place even if they shared my views on certain labels or dynamics. Those who don't share my views may or may not be likely to change my position, so that makes for another hurdle in even meeting someone. I'd rather leave the door open and see who walks through and how it proceeds. I know it's frustrating, but it is all part of the fun of online personals I guess. I wouldn't know. I rarely get anything nasty in my box. Good luck!
