Not sure how many people would use it, but I used to love going on phone bridges that were set up for another website, and another interest, which is telecommunications. Its a free service, anyone can access it that has the three-digit code, and I can even set it up as a Google Business, from which it would be reachable through a 1-800 number, for those who do not have long distance. You can even set up private rooms to talk one on one with someone in particular.

Give me you're suggestions! I'd love to hear them!

P.S.: This service also does not allow other users to know eachother's phone numbers. Therefore, your name, address, phone number and all your private information is safely kept! Unless of course you give someone your number.

I think it might be kind of cool actually.  One worry I have about something like that is how much of a bandwidth hit the site would take from it.  Sure, one viop call doesn't take up a lot, but, there's more than just 2 people on the site here that would want to chat at any given moment I'm sure.  Not to mention, they're a pain in the ass to set up correctly, and expensive if you have someone else do it.

I was on a site that used the phone bridge EXCLUSIVELY. They got up to 15 people in there, no problem. Then someone would come in and spam with irritating blasts of sound and everyone would leave. But, with a website like this, its a bit different. Everyone there was a phone phreak. Mostly prank phone calls and such went on. Another possibility is that we could set up multiple rooms. Its not really "set up" as it is just go in and claim. If randoms come in from time to time, try speaking in a strange language and they usually go away. Like, P L A was the site I was into. Phone Losers of America. The bridge number was 752. PLA. Collar Me could be CME? BDS? I dunno. I'm not that talented.

Sorry. Okay, so, technically, its a number you call. And you just say... I want this bridge number. Someone else has done the hard work. Someone else has it set up already. You just go on and use the room codes. If its a three digit number, you can have it as a code. Some are already taken by others but for the most part, I've skimmed rooms before and only the COOL numbers were used. 666.... 999.... 111... Stuff like that.

Works for me then. :)  I do agree that it's a great idea on the whole idea of protecting anonymity and all as well.  Although, I probably wouldn't use it, as I hate talking on the phone almost as much as I hate texting.  But, I can see how a lot of people would love it.

Well, if others show some interest in actually coming on, I'll see if I can find the number again. Shouldn't be too hard to locate. I thought I had it but I must have it wrong.

Interesting concept.  :>
Techie stuff isn't a strong-point in my skill-set but I think it's a neat idea.

I don't use those portable phones that everyone has, would it work with a regular house phone?

xoxkittenxox -> RE: Phone Bridge for Collarme? (9/12/2009 6:03:11 PM)

It works with anything. You can dial in from any kind of phone. You can even dial in with Skype, if you paid to use the pro version. Its not extremely 'techie'. I am not a nerd.

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Phone Bridge for Collarme? (9/12/2009 6:10:12 PM)

For me, I dont want to talk on the phone with people that I dont know well enough to give my number too. I dont want to cam or message with them either. I give my phone number to someone after we have met and I have determened that I like them enough to give it to them.

They have that type of set up on adult sites where you can talk to someone with aninimity. I just personally am not into talking to strangers who want to talk dirty to me. That is what the whole anonomous calling is used for primarily in my observations.

Skype is your friend. It's not exactly what you are suggesting but anyone who wanted in could email each other via cmail and it wouldn't take any intervention on the website's part. I think you can party line up to 12 ppl at once.

you'd be better off utilizing google talk instead. since it routes calls to the number you've selected, but the caller id will reflect the google talk number instead. i don't know if the general public can sign up as of yet. last time i checked that hadn't occurred. but invites are available.

I don't think some of you quite understand... It does not give anyone your number. It keeps it anonymous... You can even use surnames, different from even your collarme, if you are afraid. It gives no one personal information and it lets you meet someone that you are worried about meeting otherwise. Yes, I use Google Voice. I love the service. Have used it since it was Grand Central. I've got like three numbers from them. And yes, I use that to talk to most people on here, if I don't trust my real number to them. Lately I've been too lazy to use it, so I've been giving my real number, but so far no issues. I just think it'd be nice to talk as a conference to those who you may not even have thought about on here. Hearing someones voice, to me, is a lot better than internet. It lets you hear who they really are, what they have going on at the moment, or even just randomly talking to people who have the same interests. And it doesn't have to be all sexual. It can be anything from comic books to zebras! Stuff that probably doesn't come up while you are just talking on the internet. I dunno. Maybe Collarme isn't ready for the upgrade. I just thought it would be cool, seeing as its a free service and it lets you get to know people on a personal level, instead of just a textual level.

i understand what you're implying. but there's also the feasibility of investing time into all of this. i mean seriously, if you're that worried about giving out your number to the person maybe you should keep the discussions online. it seems like a lot of energy to devote to hearing someone's voice. i have found that those most willing to go through all these things are usually those with something to hide.

Lets see... Someone else hosts the number, someone else has it all set up, someone else uses the bandwidth for it, someone else pays for the services, someone else codes it all.... Only thing really left is to call the number and put in a code that everyone agrees on. Sounds like a lot of work to me. I guess your right...

Internet : Easier to lie on. You never quite know how to take a comment. It could seem sarcastic, it could seem true. You cannot get the tone of who a person is on the internet. It is a meaningless, faceless way of meeting random people on the internet. Doesn't matter how many relationships have worked through internet conversations. What matters is how many people have been hurt through meeting people from the internet. Sure, dumb to meet before a call. Its just as dumb to call someone, whom, with the right skills, could easily track your number, or even your computer IP address to your location, address, find your name, get your social, everything. Phone service, that is hosted by perhaps one person, perhaps even just a computer set up: Virtually no one will see your number, name, approximate locations, anything. And, you can still converse with the person in question.

Why bother? None of you are interested in anything other than cyber sex/phone sex anyway....

you sound awfully upset over something that really isn't up to you to decide. if others aren't excited about this service or don't see the purpose in utilizing it for themselves what's your concern? are you drawing commission or something?
