I have been working on a new line of oval wrist cuffs http://www.ringofsteel.net/images/ankle-wrist.jpg
They turned out so nice, I made my wife a 6in. out of copper for her arthritis. http://www.ringofsteel.net/images/copperwrist.jpg
She swears it helps but I don't know about that. Just thought I'd share some new developments, been a while since I was here.

The copper helps her arthritis but leaves an ugly green color on her wrist. She prefers that over the pain so I don't mind but do not recommend it. She likes the shiny but that doesn't last long of course. Sometimes it turns different colors but mostly just turns the normal patina. For some reason the coated copper does not work, so maybe there is something to this. I personally do not have any faith in this but what the hell do I know. LOL Today I made two new wrist sizes for the Stainless cuffs and will post them on my website later. I really like the way all the ovals turned out.

Hey, that is some lovely work. Do you forge, or just machine?

Thanks. No I don't forge, I hand bend, then machine the joints to get a perfect match, then back to hand finishing the rest. Here is something you guys might enjoy: http://www.ringofsteel.net/images/hingehand.jpg A customer wanted an Allen collar fitted with a Hinge Ring Option, so I took a photo of it before we send it back tomorrow. I was looking for something to prop the collar up in order to show the ring hanging down when I ran across this old hand from my model making days. Never throw anything away!

I wonder if there is some sort of clear electroplate you can put over the copper......

Infact Vad I always wondered why you never electroplated any collars....I think we may have had this conversation before and i forgot...

Great work indeed.
The bracelets have to be copper even those you purchase at any chemist or store to wear for Arthritis and they do work for some unknown reason, there is also a copper infused ointment that can be used to.
As You say VadFarkas there is that green stain left but that is the copper which is absorbed into the body to do what it is it does and although looking grotty the more green that stain id the better it is, one trouble with the copper bands is that over time they wear away and do indeed become very sharp edged which can cut the skin if it is caught on something and pushed along there.
Hugh has worn the proper bracelets for years to relieve the Arthritis in His shoulders and they have been a great help but are worn all the time not just used then removed to sit for another day.

Sunnyfey, I'm not a big fan of electroplating, from what I've seen it wears off after a while and becomes ugly.

I have to agree with Miss Dia and Sir Hugh, from our experience the copper bracelet we bought while on vacation (she forgot hers) did not work at all. Since her wrist did not turn green, we figured it was the coating. Too bad... it was prettier than the one I made. ;-) However mine being solid 3/8 copper and round, will never wear down to a sharp edge. Ibi notices it right away when she does not wear it, so it is worn all the time also.

Lol, I wish I knew more about colored steel. I just think it would be so cool to have a collar like your stealth one in ....say a nice shimmery red or purple. I don't know, just more randomness from yours truly.

Sunnyfey, Yes that would be something different also. Other than an outside engraver and Ibi, I'm the only one involved with making the collars. I sort of like it this way. But if you really want a colored one, I believe my competitors offer theirs in other colors. Like Henry Ford said "You can have my Model A in any color you want as long as it is black."
