Usually, you should be okay if you have an owner that is considerate of your limits, which most have been that I've experienced. However, I was once pursued by a professional dominant (who was not interested in me for sessions as I was never a client of hers but a friend from years back), and she used to call me at work and play "phone bondage" with me, which consisted of me having to answer very specific questions in the office, which always achieved stares from others. And she knew it so she enjoyed it that much more because she knew I wouldn't resist her if it came down to it. She never went too far, so even in that type of situation, people do know how to hold themselves back from causing real problems.

Just watch out for the ones that are nuts. Been with a few of those, and let's just say they don't understand limits at all.
