-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Love Ask her to dance, feeling ten feet tall, knowing full well I'm headed for a fall, but still I can't ignore her sweet siren call, might as well try talkin' to a brick wall. We try again with each new day though we know the price we'll pay. A bad deal, but that's how it goes, watch out for the thorns on that rose. Love brings everybody down, paint your face and head into town. Some folks say its our savior, yeah, the reason for it all, but they gotta be misguided 'cause its been my downfall. Strong enough to make a grown man crawl or to hold a free woman in thrall. We wrap it round ourselves like a shawl. Stare it in the face, our backs to the wall Driven on by our internal clock bangin' on a door that won't unlock. Eyes alight and faces aglow, we rush in to pay what we owe. Love brings everybody down, tell your lies in your lacy white gown. Irrational behaviour is her calling card. It should be so easy, but it's just so damn hard. Saw her today down at the mall, hurt more than anything I recall. No one knows the reason for it all, why we run when we hear her call. My heart is broken, yeah my heart's sore, so I get back up and ask for more. Can't complain, it's the bed we chose. Same old story it's the way it goes. Love brings everybody down, everybody's favourite thorny crown. So do yourself a favour when she comes around, turn and run 'cause if she catches you your whole world will come undone. R. P.
