This one is another of my favs of the old ones. I wrote this a long time ago, one summer me and my girlfriend at the time ( a really fun redhead ) rented a cottage by the river about 40 minutes out of town...it was a wonderful sumer as this poem attests. ONE OF THOSE DAYS. Jump from the bed into the summer sun leave the household chores all undone. The sky so blue it nearly breaks your heart, can't hardly wait for the fun to start. It's one of those days that can't go wrong, the radio's playin' some old, old song, we'll be at the beach all day long Put on some clothes, as little as you can, nothin' to do but work on your tan. You look so good in that summer dress with you here beside me, I can forget the rest. The sun is makin' the beer get warm and over the water the mosquitoes swarm, a breeze is blowin', feels just right and the clouds in the sky are such a pretty sight. I could get used to these sunny days when everything pleases in a thousand ways. The countless hours go by so slow, hand me that ball babe, I'll teach you to throw. What would you say to a little swim, to hell with your hair, jump right in. When the day's done and the sun is down, we'll hop in my car and head for town. It's one of those days that can't go wrong, the radio's playin' some old, old song, we've been at the beach all day long. 10/06/85 R. P. G.
