Now I try not to be presumptive or get into any superiority complex, but I now have a valid question. This question has to do with this site, and part of it kind of presupposes something, but then you see that is why I am asking. Am I that good of a closer ?

I have noticed in quite a few threads, I will participate, but then at the end, when it is the middle of the night and I compose the best reponse I can, and try to cover what has been said as well as whatever points I want to get out, the thread goes dead. Am I really that formidable ? If so, I don't mean to be. But again and again, looking back throught the pages of thread on this site I see my name as the last poster quite a bit.

I try hard to think about what I write these days, heve I become so good at it that I have the last word. I sincerely hope not. I have the last word at work and I am not all that happy with that. I do try to cover all the bases, but are people reading and saying to themself "Yup that dude said it", or is there another reason for this ?

Before y'all light that thing up, remember I asked. Do I close threads by being so complete and thorough that literally nobody has a word to say ? I don't want to think this, and the associated hubris, but is it true ? This does not happen on every thread, but it has happened enough that,,,, well,,, I asked.

I am not here to toot my horn. OK I am a highly intelligent MF, but I didn't come here to scare people away, if that is what I am doing I would rather know. Perhaps many have me blocked and it just looks like a dead thread, I have no idea. Please enlighten me.

No, it's because you ramble, and sometimes people don't want to get into a round and round with someone that uses a 1000 words to express what 50 could.

LOL, you asked. I do enjoy some of your posts, but others are rambling IMO. Like the OP above. You said the same thing like 6 different ways. The whole thing could of been.

"Do, you think people don't respond to my posts because I'm such a good debater? I notice often I will post on current threads, and often there are no more posts afterwards. Can you help me understand why?"

Anyway, not trying to be mean, but that has been what crossed my mind time and again.

Term I like you, I like you a lot (but not in that way, so relax) and even though that yes, if you were a Mr Men character Mister Windbag would come to mind, in your case it's an endearing quality because you have usually something interesting or fascinating to say.

It might just be part of your culture, I would imagine you as a tourist in London, one of those American tourists that form groups, clog up the escalators on the Underground or whilst walking along Oxford Street. you can spend half an hour easily looking at a map of the Undergound, and when you ask directions it would probably take you twenty minutes to get to the point. We would probably assume that you're from somewhere in the Mid-West and walk around you.

You know sometimes you write your posts and if it wasn't for the fact that you know a lot about electronics and are based in Ohio I would be inclined to suspect that you are actually an author known as Stephen King, because you write your posts in the same way as Stephen King writes his books (I mean what other author could get almost 400 pages out of a rabid St Bernard dog attacking a car?).

I think you suffer a fate common to quite a few posters in that some of your postings go over the heads of most people, or some see a dissertation well written and neatly organized and knowing they won't get away with skimming through it they pass it by.

It's a pity because I for one like your postings, I find what you say interesting, it also communicates usually your character, the humanity of who you are, and I think you'd be a really interesting person to meet and get to know.

And yes, I'm pulling your leg about the tourist bit, but not about Stephen King, because if it ever got out he had a twin brother, you'd be prime suspect. You could probably even write his novels for him and very few of us would know the difference.

Stella, don't ever read the Gor novels.  29 semicolons and 17 commas all in one sentence.  I counted.  The sentence was half a page long.  *shivers*

Hey Term, Stella said it beautifully.  I concur.

OP,
You give yourself WAY TOO MUCH credit. I agree w/what NeedtoUseYou said. You ramble.  Whenever I see your posts, they're novels and just not worth reading all the way thru. Stay short & to the point.  You do have something to say you just take too long to say it.

Termy reminds me of one of my coworkers.  He writes a 3 paragraph email to another coworker, that could have been summed up in 2 words....

you suck.

The coworker, not Termy.

ok....new rule.....nobody post anything after Term has had his say. If you really gotta say something after his post....just start a new thread

This could turn out to be an interesting social experiment to see if we can give Term a complex of some kind.....lol
