i've just had a rather interesting chat with a sub that so far seems genuine only to find out that his biggest fantasy is being 'drawn' on by his mistress, he was listing things like dirty messages and pictures but I was just wondering about the safety implications. Does anyone have any idea about the risk of using pens, if I was to try it should I be using specialist pens, would food colouring pens be better?

Sorry to throw this out there, but if you guys don't know then I don't know who would! - Thanks, Lucy x

Sharpies work nicely and the words stay for a few days even after showering. I doubt there'd be any problem with the ink unless you were going to cover them completely.

If you want something that is non-toxic and comes off easily, those Crayola washable pens are nice.

Sharpies aren't good, due to the chemicals. I've been drawn on in Crayola markers before (artwork, not words) - it was fun, and it did feel a bit objectifying being treated as a canvas. It took a couple of days to completely wash off, since the ink sinks into the pores.

They sell a number of pens that are safe for skin - our local Hobby Lobby used to carry Henna pens, but I don't know if they still do or not. Mostly, as long as you aren't covering the entire body, most anything will work - although you do have to be careful with some. We discovered the crayola pens and markers transfer easily (i.e. Holly drew a heart on my leg, and we later realized that there was a matching one on her leg, and on the boy's leg from where the ink had transferred with contact LOL).

I use eyeliner pencils on mine. I draw on him all the time and color in his tattoos lol. Makeup works great and washes off easily. It is a lot of fun for both of us.

You might also try liquid latex, and there are a variety of erotic "body paints" you can find in most BDSM/sex shops both online and in brick-and-mortar retail. As SweetDommes pointed out, there also body pens available in many hobby shops.

It's a fun game I've wanted to try with Mistress for a while. Perhaps when I visit her I will bring a collection such toys. Thanks for the inspiration/reminder. ^__^

I bet the surgical markers used by surgeons are safe and non-toxic.

Just google surgical markers and you can find all kinds of links to places to buy them

First one I clicked on is selling them for $1 per marker...

There are also some tattoo markers that I picked up through Dick Blick or one of the other art supply centers. They don't tend to last very long, but they're non-toxic, and have some nice color options (instead of just black or surgical purple).

As far as the Sharpie thing, my daughter (a tattoo artist) started out doing Sharpie designs on herself and others -- I figured that, as long as you don't bathe in the stuff and don't write over open wounds, etc., it's not any worse for you than tattoo ink (which I actually have a -lot- of).

Thank you all for your help, I'm going to give a few of the suggestions a try and see how I get on. Should be a fun learning curve

Oooh, See, I've thought of this once or twice but never really gave it much idea.  Would be fun though.  I do draw already, and would LOVE to use the pets back, or front as a canvas for fun. :)

I gave The Man an assortment of stuff from the dollar store one year as a stocking type gift including washable crayola markers. I thought it would be neat to be a living canvas plus if he drew on a ticklish area he would have an 'excuse' for some funishment. Alas, didn't interest him at all.

I picked those markers because I don't want to ruin my sheets. Sharpies ought to be safe if no cuts, open wounds, but I find the smell very offputting.

If ball point ink were toxic, a lot of kids wouldn't live through final exams.

Speaking of which. Try this.  Get your boy to achieve a nice erection.  Draw on the head of his penis with a ball point pen.  One of my favorites.

There is a potential harm and the ink is absorbed into the skin, may cause rashes and if one is ultra sensitive may become physically ill

Both an eye pencil and lipstick come in useful at these times!

You could use your own lipstick ( If you use it) to mark him which adds to the kink. Red preferably

Exactly my thoughts. Kids draw on themselves all the time.
I just grab a pen, any pen and so far my victims have never come to any harm!
If I want something thats going to last a few days I use a permanent marker. If I am being erotic I use lipstick

I've used acrylic paints ($1, apple barrel I think was the brand). Tempra paints are even better as they are water based paints generally used in pre-schools. I've used pens, crayola, and the like.
DO NOT recommend sharpies as they last a little too long. Before I discovered kink bf had SLUT written on his tush and it didn't come off in time for his proctology exam...apparently he had an interesting talk with the doctor. Same guy said he liked it, that it was like finding a private note in his lunch and wanted something new every few days.
