Does Kansas have a tourism industry?

No.  It does not.  This is one of the reasons that the taxes are high.  And they refuse to do anything about it.

In all seriousness, Iowa is not much different. Prettier by far, but still clueless. What little tourism we do have, the marketing they do for it is horrible. To bolster the state coffers, they decided that legal gambling was a wonderful thing. Apparently it has helped the state, we are certainly not in the same position as states like California, but they've done nothing to relieve the residents state income taxes. With serious lack of give a damn, I am not going to search to see, but I've been told that Iowa's state income taxes are some of the highest in the nation. Yet, they complain that people are leaving the state at an alarming rate.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see the attraction of booking a trans-Atlantic flight and hotel just to see lots of grass, white wooden houses and lots of people in checked shirts and denim dungarees with pitchforks.

Kansas to me conjures up images of The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, etc.

What is there to see in Kansas?

Well apparently quite a bit, you just have to look in the right dumpster to find it.
