Andalusite -> Pain tolerance, positions, and sex swings (9/16/2009 8:19:28 PM)

My playpartner and I used a sex/bondage swing the last time we played, and we noticed she was having a lot of difficulty processing even very light/mild strikes with toys that I'd been using on her much harder a short time before. She found that when her head was supported by the swing, that it was uncomfortable on her lower back, but when her body was supported, she had to tense her neck muscles a bit. I'm not sure if that was a factor, or the way that she was positioned. Anyone else have a similar experience? I hadn't used sex swings as a top before, and the one I was in as a bottom a couple of times was bigger.

Never used a sex swing or anything like that but sounds like she couldn't let go to enjoy the toys you were using because the swing was making her uncomfortable. I know if I'm feeling pain from something like an illness or a muscle that's tensed or something like that then I can't let go or concentrate on the sensations being given to me.

She was so focused on how uncomfortable she was, and how she had to hold herself to stay in position that she couldn't relax and enjoy it. Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Yes, similar.....but with suspension. When one part of my body is really uncomfortable, any strategies I use to process what's happening get stolen. My focus, no matter how I try to shift it, is on the unintentional stress. It's like being able to enjoy or process the pain of running when you're able to be in the *zone* .......and wearing too small running shoes and never being able to get into the *zone* because your feet simply hurt too much.

I would guess that if she was focusing on anything other than the pain, the strokes that were normally ok were now very painful

She said it wasn't hurting her, and didn't complain about her neck until after I'd decided to stop and move back to the other bench. She had a little trouble adjusting the sling to her butt/lower back, but she'd said she was comfortable at that point. We both figured it was the muscular tension or else the effort keeping her from letting go. I've only played with a few other women, mostly co-topping, and guys seem to be a bit more hmm stoic or singleminded when bottoming. In general, other women tend to come across as a bit more fragile, and especially since we're new to each other, I've been really careful with her. I've certainly had shifts in pain tolerance myself, but not to that degree! She wasn't screaming or crying, just reacting a *LOT* to very tiny taps - I tried a couple of different toys in case it was a thud vs. sting issue, then gave up on it, and we just did a little playful wrestling, both giggling when I went "got your nose!" or giving her hair or nipple a quick tug. Anyway, I guess it was mostly a communication issue, and from talking about it afterward, she still enjoyed what I *did* do while she was in there - the pain wasn't more than she could handle, since I noticed how she was reacting and adjusted.
