How do you know if someone is a fake? Well, I'm sure you're talking/chatting with a person, hence the reason for this question, and are thinking perhaps he's not the man you think or the person he's portraying himself to be. The best way to know is to meet...have coffee...talk...spend time together. If neither of you are willing to invest the time required to get to know a person and not a label, then you both make the choice, again in my opinion, to live a fantasy.

Sorry, folks. What I meant was "Your profile says 'Female Switch looking for 'Dominant Men and ONLY that." A Female Switch would probably list 'looking for Submissive Men' as well. It is not that Fem Switches should be looking only for other switches, but rather how can a Fem/Switch switch if she's looking for only Doms? Of course, that could be the case, but it is just another oddity (to me) that makes me call "scammer" on this person. To me, "faremaiden" is a scammer misspelling "fairmaiden." Why is it scary? Because it breaks out to be "fare" as in "pay for it, buster." Scammers are know for misspellings and grammar errors. Misuse of idioms is a BIG clue. And here's another clue - no further postings from "faremaiden." As to first posting: she doesn't give a clue as to where she got the bad experience of dealing with a "fake" on-line Master. It sure wasn't here, if this is her first day. I'd expect a little more background info in the OPing, or maybe a follow-up. As I wrote, I've spent some time checking out 419'ers and the instant I read the OPing, my "red flags" went up. One of the things that I learned (years ago) was to follow one's gut before following one's heart. [No need for a chorus of "I agrees." LOL!] I am not one to make quick judgments, but the OPing stinks so very, very badly, I just had to let xhe and y'all know what I thought. Thanks for your appropriate postings should xhe be legit, but I still think faremaiden is a scammer.

First, I think it's important not to confuse the limited labeling choices of CM for some kind of innate shape of the BDSM universe . . . . . Just cuz everyone who posts a profile to CM has to shoehorn themselves into 'Dom', 'Switch', 'Sub', & 'Slave' doesn't mean that that is the be-all & end-all of people's choices in this lifestyle -- but that's an easy impression to take from what you're posting. FR First, I think being a switch of either gender and choosing to look for only either a dominant or submissive partner is perfectly legitimate. Nothing about that suggests "fake" to me. As to the original question, how does one determine if anything is a fake: by appraising it.

The CM self-identification options are lacking. What's an androgynous male (male in the "I have a penis, not a vagina" sense) who switches in bed, but is totally Dom outside of the bedroom to do? I mean, seriously - what if you were an intersexed genderqueer who is Dominant towards androgynous females but submissive towards masculine males... or what the heck ever. People are humans - individuals. Ignore the pigeonhole crud and fill out your profile to really descriibe yourself how you want to be seen.

Re switch female looking for dominant men: I am a female switch looking for dominant men (well, I didn't check the box, but I am). I put down I'm switch because I have definitely been dominant in my vanilla relationships. So I'm capable of enjoying being the dominant one in a relationship. However, I want to explore my submissive side, and I personally think that would be more of a turn on for me. There are other reasons as well, but this is the main one.
