It is like this... a submissive can go home at the end of the scene and even act like it didnt happen...

Now, to me, that definition is of a bottom, not a submissive.

Okay... I totally understand that. But like I said... this is what the defining point is to me. I identify as a slave only... so my thoughts lean towards that in the first place.

A submissive chooses what she/he will submit to. A submissive who is a slave has chosen to give her/himself over to an Owner as property and thereby given up all choices after that. A slave has only the rights his/her Master gives him/her. A submissive has her/his own rights.

A sub is someone relinquishing power to someone else. They may say they have given it all over and have no limits but in reality if thier Master did something that displeased them, they could leave at anytime. One can be playing or fulltime submissive 24/7.

A slave is someone who never had the option to give control over to someone else. It was taken and they were made to do things against their will. They even start to get used to it and even crave it. A slave is someone who would be considered by most on here as abused. No romance, no fantasy, just cold hard reality.

I dont think anyone on here has ever been a slave to someone else.

Sorry to disagree.  My boy is a slave, selfadmittedly.  I have never forced him to relinquish anything. He chose to give himself to me, and from that point forward, decisions were taken out of his hands. However, he has NEVER been abused by me, and we have a very romantic relationship.  I'm sorry you dont thing yourself, or anyone else, capable of haivng a loving Master/slave relationship. It is possible, I know for a fact as do many others here on the site.

"difference between slave and submissive"

Can it be as simple as that almost all slaves are submissive but all submissives are not slaves.

mnottertail -> RE: difference between slave and submissive (11/15/2006 9:37:21 AM)

In my opinion one of the largest differences between slave and submissive is that they are spelled in different ways, agreed; they share some of the same letters but in one all you are going to have left over is la, and the other is ubmissi-- now; I think that says alot right there, don't it?

Any conspiracy buffs watching this thread?

A slave/sub/bottom by any other name would smell as sweet!

I like Webster's take on it:
1 : a person held in servitude as the chattel of another
2 : one that is completely subservient to a dominating influence
3 : a device (as the printer of a computer) that is directly responsive to another

Okay then... I understand this. IMHO... a slave is one that has given up all control and rights to a Master/Mistress. It is like this... a submissive can go home at the end of the scene and even act like it didnt happen... a slave lives it, usaully 24/7. Does that give you any thoughts or help you in any way??

1st Girl Phoenix
Slave to Master Dragon

No because I could drag out a thousand subs who would say that's not at all true for them.

yep im one that can be draged out ... i was a 24/7 collared sub ... didnt forget about it nor walk away at the end of the day  .... mmmmm  lets go back to  "A submissive gives the gift of their submission while a slave gives over all rights"
