"Dreyfus said it is not unusual for so-called "forensic" patients, who are being held against their will, to earn the opportunity to go on field trips as part of their therapy."

(I guess the obvious next question would be....are there hoards of people being held in prison who signed up for for the gig?)

And a trip to the county fair is going to help make this guy "not insane?"

I'd like to hear from the family of his next victim what their stance is on the death penalty. And remember folk, I said insanity should not only not be an excuse, it should be a reason for capital punishment. Sure he is sick, but in my world he wouldn't be for long.

When the fuck are people going to get that sheepdog hair out of their eyes and see reality ? Kill the killers, it is that simple.

The only argument that I can accept against the death penalty is that the government is too damn incompetent and wreckless to administer it. Arguments pertaining to morality and other issues I reject totally. If you disagree fine, but next time you get cancer, refuse to let them cut it out because it has a right to live. Nuff said.

With all due respect, that has to be the most absolutely illogical argument I've ever heard on these forums.

Actually....it has some value.

I'm thinking murders and child molesters should all get radiation treatment, just like a cancer therapy....because of course, they are indeed a cancer.

Nice big sturdy microwave....big enough for a really tall dude.....set on 3 hours, 45 minutes.  Once done, remove saran cover, cook again for 25 minutes to achieve proper crispiness.

Lookie, I am going to take that as I see it was intended, slightly sarcastic.

However on a more serious note, Panda, a rethink of this issue might be in order. It would seem ironic that one such as I, who sees the entire human race as a single entity would approve of something like execution. But when you go deeper into the subject my logic holds true. Even taking a bath you are losing skin cells, but they are useless and get in the way. So for your health and well being you remove them. In my view it is somewhat similar to pruning or trimming a bush.

Now I know the $64 question is coming, and the answer is yes. Yes I would be willing to live in a society such as the one I advocate, even if by law it would mean my death. I am fully aware of the fact that in this society there are so many willing to kill, but so few willing to die. But that is not me.

What happens when a boat is sinking ? Well if they got half a chance they jettison everything non essential. I don't think killers are essential unless we can use them in the army or something like that. Until and unless we start thinking that way as a whole, these problems will never be solved. We are just about at the point where ½ of our population is supporting the other half. How much farther do YOU want this to go ? And it is not just an apparent danger that must be excised, a person's usefulness to society must be considered as well.

And, my friends, I am starting to think that if we do not do this for ourselves, nature will do it for us. And soon.
