DYING SLOWLY I dreamt of some far distant land as our pleasure lay there bleeding Out in the streets where the lovers died they laugh, the pain's receding Sat on the curb with your head in my hands with the whole world ours for the asking thinking back on those rum-soaked days of summers everlasting Play a hand and take your leave do it for me, for those who grieve with carefully chosen words like an old song that goes on and on Dying slowly with your life before you trying not to cry, love, trying to ignore you And who among us will grow old who'll be here come Victoria Day Come on, cast the bones and read the runes tell us what the spirits say Take my hand I'm going now the time has come for one last bow and your whispered final words go on and on such a sad song Dying slowly, please don't remind me The night comes on, love, and life's behind me R.
