I think that is it for me too.  The fact that I am not slipping in and giving someone a hug.  When someone types that to me I don't know what to say, except thanks.  And even then it is an uncomfy thanks because a huge part of me is thinking how much online time it took to relate to people that way.  In person, face to face I hug when I mean it and that is rare.  Maybe I am too dispassionate to get into the emotive descriptions, it is far easier to just type hug.

No, I don't ever do that. I don't even think TO do it. I see lots of folks around here doing it, esp. on some of the random stupidity threads, and they really seem to get into it and enjoy it. Different strokes and all that but I'd rather go do things than type about pretending to do them online. Just me.........luci

fluffypet61 -> RE: Do you..? (9/21/2009 6:16:00 PM)

The people i give {{{HUGS}}} to understand what i am doing and seem to appreciate it and the flowers [sm=flowers.gif].  It's all on Random Stupidity and a lot of it is a shorthand for what they know i am expressing.  i like getting {{{HUGS}}}, too.

Some of the threads are fantasy threads and i am in character when i post menu items.  There are food threads and we post food on them.

These people are my friends and this is how we communicate on Random Stupidity.    So what if it's typing and not doing.  The distance prohibits the kind of contact that would be doing.

If you don't like it ...don't read it.

Level -> RE: Do you..? (9/21/2009 6:17:52 PM)

I do it on occasion, usually as a way of being silly, and I do the *hugssss* thing, as a shorthand way of saying "I'm sorry you're in pain, keep your chin up".

Kalista07 -> RE: Do you..? (9/21/2009 6:39:40 PM)

Not to be antagonistic or anything here.....but for the people here who are so hell bent on complaining about all the people who are 'typing' and not 'doing'....Has it occured to any of you that you are perhaps 'reading' and therefore not exactly 'doing' either?
just curious,
Kali

Missokyst -> RE: Do you..? (9/21/2009 7:55:29 PM)

I have a bruise and a few knife marks on my boobies and that did not happen online.  Heh.. oddly enough though I don't play a lot, I get some time to read forums, when I am not "doing".  And I did get to hug him in person, no need for descriptive text.
LOL I cannot imagine doing all the time.

littlewonder -> RE: Do you..? (9/21/2009 8:22:39 PM)

The only time I ever do this is from time to time when I am sending a quick phone text to Master between lunch breaks or running from one floor to another at work and I can sneak my cell with me..just to let him know I'm thinking of him but I don't really have time for a conversation.

Other than that...no I never do it and find it quite annoying when others do it on a constant basis online.

I'm a fictionalist. I pass up no opportunity to practice using whatever writing tools I have available to attempt to convey a mood or an image . . . . . . Attempt. Not always succeeding . . . . . & practice makes, um, something . . . . .

Yeah, you're right. If there's an argument here, you'd probably win. Sadly, I wasn't trying to be antagonistic either, I just wasn't able to quite put into words what I mean. I said "I'd rather go do things than type about pretending to do them online." What I meant was that when I read something like "strolls in and fixes a ice cold pina colada and walks over and....," I don't understand the point of it. I'd rather really go into my kitchen and fix me an ice cold pina colada and drink it than making up a fantasy one to drink. There's nothing angry or argumentative about that statement, it's just my truth.

When I said I don't think to type like that, again MY truth. I just think to answer a question or make a statement. Whatever quality it is in one's thinking that leads one to typing stuff like I wrote above is just something I apparently lack. I'd really have to make myself think up things to type.

Not sure about anyone else, but I definitely didn't mean to indicate I wasn't "reading" instead of "doing" when I'm actually reading. I definitely didn't intend to draw anyone's ire and I even said "different strokes." That means to each his own, I think[;)]

LaTigresse -> RE: Do you..? (9/22/2009 7:36:51 AM)

For ME, there is a huge difference between typing out thoughts and typing out pretend actions. One is universally understood to be the actions of thinking human beings communicating. The other......reminds me of the most annoying sector of humanity, in my eyes, adult women that still act like they are 14.

Moonhead -> RE: Do you..? (9/22/2009 8:49:13 AM)

Isn't that a little harsh? You don't know that people who do that aren't doing it because they somehow feel that it's expected of them.

I like to think of myself as the most responsible 15-year-old around . . . . .

DrkJourney -> RE: Do you..? (9/22/2009 9:12:07 AM)

Actually, in my opinion, it just like the person just wants to get off on their own words.  I especially run into it a lot with wankers.  They want you to complete their "story" as it were.  But that's just me, I'm more into just straight talk.  All the virtual flower stuff just seems like cyber to me.

just the way my brain goes I guess.   When someone emails me with things like "kneels at your feet", etc.  I simply ignore it and respond to them like it wasn't even there.  If it contines, (if the exchange even goes past the one email), I politely ask them to stop, some apologise and say that they thought it was expected.  My answer is always be yourself, don't go with what you think is expected.   Find your Domme first, then worry about what is expected.   Of course the wankers just get mad, take their ball and goes home...lol

Yuppers, I'd wank ya.

I actually think this type thing, "slips in quietly ~ gives you a soft hug ~ slips away and grieves for your sorrow " is really cool. I think that lines says so much.

I don't know what site blabs on, but really, in some cases I think that would be a nice way to say things in a short simple way. I think this....(((((((hugs))))))) doesnt work as well as saying, "Gives you a soft hug. My love and comfort to you". Just my 2 cents. I may not be understanding what the beef here is.

Not really a beef.  I think what we are referring to, at least what I"m referring to is not a simple hug here and there, but a person sitting there typing to you "narrating" more than having a conversation.

They say a few words in the actual conversation, then it's....slave walks over to where and pours mistress and drink.  slave turns and place drink on the table, kneels at your feet....  you know crap like that.  And to me it's just cyber, as LaT says you are typing you're not doing , so to me it's just a creepy cyber wank.

When all that narration is 90% of the actual conversation, I'm just not interest.

DrkJourney -> RE: Do you..? (9/22/2009 9:28:27 AM)

Oh Ron you know you can wank me any time...lol[sm=shake.gif]

*adjusts halo*  That's about as descriptive as I get.[sm=angel.gif]
