Lucylastic -> ACORN Worker in Video Reported Duo to Police (9/22/2009 5:38:26 AM)

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. —  Police say a worker with the activist group ACORN who was caught on video giving advice about human smuggling to a couple posing as a pimp and a prostitute had reported the incident to authorities.

Police say he contacted law enforcement two days later. The detective consulted another police official who served on a federal human smuggling task force, who said he needed more details.

Two days, huh?

Sounds like he reviewed the events in his head, and arrived at the conclusion that it might have been a sting, and then gave the police a call to cover his butt.

Two days. Not enough information to do anything ....

I wouldnt exactly call asking a relative who happens to be a cop contacting the police.  Just My opinion.  You can take that and a coupla bucks and get a cup of coffee

Police report filed by ACORN exposes false claims by individuals

In recent days, Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe, the conservative filmmakers who made the widely circulated ACORN videos, as well as Andrew Breitbart and Mike Flynn, who have been promoting the videos for BigGovernment.com, have claimed that the filmmakers were never rebuffed by any of the ACORN offices they visited in their attempts to get ACORN to assist them in improper activities.

However, in a newly released video, ACORN Housing Corp.'s Katherine Conway Russell directly rebuts those claims, citing a police report ACORN filed as evidence that she asked the filmmakers to leave the ACORN office in Philadelphia and called the police after the filmmakers asked suspicious questions.

Is it the same "police report" referenced in the OP?

If so, my comment stands.

If not, then I'd like to know the circumstances as well.

FR...

Grasping at straws, even as ACORN is imploding over what is actually going on.

Well seeing as the first story is about a report made in California and the 2nd is about a report made in Philadelphia, I somehow doubt they are the same "police report". And the actual report in the 2nd story is there on the link.

Nope, a different one.

Look at the link, it includes a video of the worker who reported them and a copy of the police report.

I don't know, but if so, that's the fault of the police not Acorn.

Actually this whole thing is grasping at straws by Republicans.

How did Acorn suddenly, within the last year and a half, become this corrupt, criminal organization when it has been around since 1974?

Did you ever hear of Acorn before the campaign?  I know I didn't.

But suddenly it's the most evil organization that ever existed because attacking them is a backdoor way of discrediting Obama because of his prior work with them.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: ACORN Worker in Video Reported Duo to Police (9/22/2009 10:30:04 AM)

But the reality is...

There was no real sex traffickig being done by O'Keefe and Giles but a whole lot of real and accurated advice given to them by ACORN without batting an eyelash. And so far only ONE call to the police as the events happened.

Clearly you folks are not so naive as to not see that the San Deigo employee was in major CYA mode are you??? Yet that same employee of all the ACORN people caught on tape, seemed to know exactly the whys and hows to get this done and even offered contacts!

Here's aother question to add to the one about what kind of golden parachute did the fired employees get...

What did ACORN know and when did they know it????

mnottertail -> RE: ACORN Worker in Video Reported Duo to Police (9/22/2009 10:33:37 AM)

Let's ask Nixon that question, he was around in '74. If there is some thought that there might be widespread illegal actions in that organization, why wouldn't there be continuing investigations, and Hell, can any of us be sure that is not exactly what is occurring, undercover or quiet investigations?

I am pretty sure they did...

Nixion...really??? Are you guys still using Nixon???

Arpig,

The "MediaMatters" story goes into great detail of how the two filmmakers claimed that they were never kicked out of an office or an interview, and then it attempts to make you think that these statements were untrue, yet nowhere are their statements actually shown to be untrue.

And guess what? They weren't reported for anything other than "causing a verbal disturbance" (although it is difficult to decipher the report).

No child prostitution. Nothing about avoiding income taxes. Nothing about being thrown out.

I'd be curious to know when the two visited the Philly office as well, and see how it matches up against the date and time on the report.

That information doesn't seem to be available, either. I wonder why?

DomKen -> RE: ACORN Worker in Video Reported Duo to Police (9/22/2009 12:08:00 PM)

That information is available. First hit in a google search as a matter of fact.

O'Keefe visited the office on July 24. Complaint was file don July 24. O'Keefe and his backers lied when the claimed they weren't turned away by any ACORN office.

Actually DK, that's the exact same article linked to by rule.

I ask again ... where is any evidence that they were "kicked out"?

Where are the reports of "child prostitution" and such?

Nada.

I don't know for sure, but I'd say on the editing room floor, most probably.
