Is it me?   Is it Aldis?    But the past few weeks eggs seem bland.

I use no butter I make them in a microwave as I have for a few years now.   With raisins- sesame seeds, and cinnamon topped with cheese on toasted wheat.

bland.

I do not smoke.

While I am at at- I think fumes seep into the house.  As in carbon monoxide- or exhaust.    Maybe there is  hole I can caulk.    I don't have the heat on.    Maybe the weather and traffic-   I yawn excessively when I get up.  Close to a gasp.

I wonder if farmers market eggs are crappy right now.  At one time the brown eggs were really good.

Yes, the quality of eggs may change, especially seasonally.  If you notice the tastes of other food changing, or diminished sense of smell, see your doctor.  It could be a simple sinus thing.

You haven't been using Zinc to fight colds lately, have you?

I started taking a multi vit.

In general- all other foods taste fine- the same.

I don't know about you but if I eat the same food over and over they seem to loose taste. Maybe just a simple change in preparation would help... get some thick bacon and cook in a skillet or oven but keep the grease... then fry your eggs in good old bacon grease... you can always pat them dry to drain... It would give them that old fashion 50's taste.

ps...your going to die anyway...a little fat will not bring it on that much faster...lol

If you are buying from a commercial source then yes they will be bland.
Times of year will change the flavour too.  And where the eggs come from and how the hens are treated.

Try and buy fresh from a local farm or someone who keeps hens rather than a store.  It's cheaper too.

Good grief yes!! When I had chickens, pre-chickenbasketball playing horse, I would give them to anyone that would take them. Totally different and better flavour.

PaHunk, I was yawning all the time too and got a sleep study done and they found that I had sleep apnea.
They gave me a cpap machine and now I don't yawn at all during the day.
Maybe one of the Nurses in here could tell us exactly what happens with sleep apnea, I forget.

My body is out of whack and has been for a while.  I tried getting off of some meds- which did not work.  Meanwhile it did not help.   I move to other areas when I sleep.  I could start on the love seat- co to the couch- then the bed - then the bed upstairs- then the couch- then the bed.   I have alot of pillows  - so I dont have to carry them alot.   But that makes more laundry too.

I do snap out of the yawning once I fullly wake.    I think when I did some remdling- that I have a leak into the bedroom.

I took the AC out and have been slowly making sure the storm windows are tight.

I dont think it is severe enough to a sleep machine- yet.

The flood wall acts as a tunnel to the traffic- and when traffic is heavy or semi trucks- the smog is bad.  When I water the yard- I always see rain bows....
The living room I could reach out and touch the traffic- there is no front yard.  less grass to mow.  I suppose.  lol

Seriously, how can you even TASTE the eggs with all that stuff on them.

Use a skillet, fry the scrambled on the stove and add a couple tablespoons of salsa.

Also, sometimes adding a little bit of salt will help pep food flavor up.  I actually do not cook with salt as a rule, but I have been known to put a tiny bit on eggs along peper and garlic.

Hmmmm, I never thought of Heinz 57.....might be a little too spicy for my wimpy stomach, though.  But it sounds interesting...

How about sauerkraut.....ketchup on sauerkraut???

I love eggs, eat anywhere from 2 to 8 a day. Plenty of butter, and like Butch suggested, cook them in bacon grease, they're awesome.

Ketchup....

Actually, bland foods is a direct result of genetically modified food, or GMO's (organisms). The food industry-controlled FDA has shot down attempts by farmers, consumer groups, concerned parents and taxpayers to mandate labeling as to whether a food product is a GMO. Its probably not your sinuses, lack of zinc, or smokers within 5 miles of you that's causing this, so don't think its you. There's a series of education you can put yourself through, and you probably should, since you're not going to get it through the re-education box or the corporate newspapers. Rent The Corporation, then Food Inc., Life Running Out Of Control, and Supersize Me and you'll get a new taste in your mouth.
Also, watch out for grocery stores and packages that boast All-Natural. All-Natural is the next wave of cover which actually translates as Not Organic, or, The Same Old Thing. Rather than cleaning up their own system, they're buffering against any real change, by using words which translate into psychological warfare against the consumer. Educate yourself, and pass it along.

Slavehandsome

PS-Animal products are slightly more affected than vegetable material, although genetic tampering is able to adjust (up or down) the amount of nutrition per, say, apple orange or carrot. Animal adjustments are industry-oriented to grow faster, regardless of any nastiness passed along to the consumer. Be careful.
