MissSarahTS -> Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/23/2009 11:52:42 PM)

Well this is a controversial topic that may or may not have people yelling at me. I'm a donor. I'm clean get tested every month just to state how i like to keep up to date with my records but i'd like to ask is how many people are into practicing vampirism and how many are into donating. I personally don't agree with the all natural way of doing it just by biting because of all the germs that are in the mouth but instead using a razor on one area of your body to donate. i choose my left palm just below the thumb. Sanitize of course but what are some of the peoples opinions on this one unique fetish. The Reason i like it is because the feel of the blade against your skin and then seeing the pure animalistic nature of the vampire/ss very erotic in my opinion.

all i can say is be careful

MissSarahTS -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 2:24:28 AM)

i'm as careful as one can be. i like to have my partner tested aswell.Just curious how many people do it. I feel that when done with the right person there is a very strong bond that is placed to both of you

alrighty, i wish to avoid bleeding when i play just to be safe and all that

Aileen1968 -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 3:40:15 AM)

I have all the necessary items in my toybox for just this purpose....he just hasn't cut me yet.
He did do a wonderful mindfuck involving cutting me the other week which made me realize how hot the idea really was.
It's high up on our list of things we want to do. He wants to draw and drink my blood.
He also wants to draw my blood through a bite. I'm well aware of all of the risks involved in both ways of drawing blood.

DesFIP -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 3:49:23 AM)

By using the same spot all the time, won't you develop heavy scar tissue?

Moonhead -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 6:10:11 AM)

Quite apart from the risk of infection, isn't it going to be pretty hard to draw blood by biting somebody? Your teeth aren't really designed for that.

MasterFireMaam -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 10:56:15 AM)

I am a modern vampire. I consider myself hybrid-by-default as often, sang vamps such as myself, don't have ready donors and I've learned to feed psy as my sub for blood. It's nice to hear that there is a donor who is serious about the health risks and taking them into consideration.

glossary for non-vamps:

modern vamp: A person who has a need to feed on another's blood, energy or both in order to have a better quality of life but, truthfully, doesn't have any of the Hollywood characteristics of a vamp. It's sad really. Eternal hotness and sparkly skin would rock!

sang: short for sanguinarious which means a vamp who feeds on blood.

hybrid: a vamp who is both sang and psy

psy: psychically

I'm a vampire - specifically psi - but I've been educating the vampire community on safer feeding and bloodletting for over a decade.  Most sang vamps don't bite.  I always tell people to use a disposable scalpel or diabetic lancet to draw blood.  As long as you're using a new razor blade each time, you should be fine.  It's great that you get tested every month, but if you're with the same person for sex and bloodletting, you can cut back to once every 90 days.  You can also use other areas of the body as long as you can cover any scars that result from the blade.  Just learn enough about anatomy to avoid arteries, major veins, and tendons.

Interesting definitions. I thought "Energy vampire" (which seems to be what you mean by psy) was normally considered a pejorative, or even term of abuse in BDSM circles, though?

It can be, just like slut or bitch can be derogatory terms in certain settings. For most modern vampires, like in BDSM, the difference has to do with consent. However, I don't know a single psy who feeds off of crowd energy by asking everyone permission! There's a prevailing belief that the energy of a crowd is often more than the sum of the individual energies and so there is "excess" to feed from without harming anyone.

A "psychic" or "emotional" vampire as you are discussing is usually someone who is addicted to drama and, in my opinion, is probably a modern psy vampire, but unaware that they are and so they are feeding nonconsensually. To what degree they are held responsible for doing their feeding this way because they are unaware is often individualistic. I feel that, even if a person isn't aware (if they're a modern vamp at all), a healthy individual is aware of themselves enough to understand the emotional/psychic toxicity of drama and thus work to avoid it.

Thanks for clearing that up. As they say, context is everything, then.
(I first saw the term as the tile of a Peter Hammill song from the '70s, and was surprised to find that it had been claimed by people with a taste for S&M.)

NihilusZero -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 1:41:26 PM)

Interesting thread. It's been years since I forayed into bloodletting at all, mostly due to the odd aversion to needles and blades. Actually, I'm rather fond of knives, actually (recently acquired a nice butterfly) but the actual process of blade-to-skin cutting has a nails-on-chalkboard effect on me. Kinda sucks (no pun intended!).

The suggestion of the diabetic lancet is quite interesting after having peeked around les internets for more info.

It just occurs to me that my comments thus far haven't really afforded any additional insight and I'm not quit energetic enough to get into the topic of psychological/energetic vampirism (which does reflect many tendencies of mine)...

Oh well. [:D]

Moonhead -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 1:44:41 PM)

I'm not sure how much blood you'd get using a diabetic lancet: it's designed to prick your finger so that you can test your blood sugars. As well as the lancets, you might want to get one of the devices that holds them as well, unless you'd prefer to prick your victim by hand instead of using a sort of springloaded thing to draw blood.

Does the diabetic lancet function differently than a spring-loader? Wouldn't any device that punctures with a small quick motion create a wound that would naturally bleed out once used?

Moonhead -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 2:13:30 PM)

Sorry, I should have been more clear: the lancet's the sharp thing that goes inside the spring loader. I've only ever used the lancets inside the devices, which are designed to poke a shallow hole quickly and as painlessly as possible. As you say, part of the point is that the hole isn't deep and closes quickly. You could make a deeper hole using one by hand, I'd imagine. The point of the lancets though, is that they come in a big box, and are supposed to be disposable, which is going to cut down on a lot of the problems with infection you'd get from cutting people with the same knife repeatedly. Really, they're only a pinprick: a fat needle in a plastic housing.

Sunnyfey -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 2:15:12 PM)

I'm not sure about lancets, spring loaded or not. The act of cutting or pricking someone to draw blood generally freaks me out. But should my partners lip get cut during a scene, or whatever reason, I'm not going to turn away from them offering me blood. I do not however consider myself a vampire in that I don't actively live that lifestyle. It's a confusing situation for me . I'll agree with feeding should NZ ever want that from me. But I'm not going to actively ask for him to feed me, when thinking along these lines, should I need to feed in the way a hybrid would, I'll go for a psy feeding way before anything else.

Vendaval -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 3:48:26 PM)

Fast Reply -

Check a medical supply store for a sharps disposable container.  Many accidental infection when needles are not properly disposed of after use.

TwistedHeart74 -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 4:08:04 PM)

I donated to a coven in New Orleans for awhile. I have to say it was one of the most erotic things I've ever done. My blood was drawn by a nurse who was part of the group, so there was no biting to blood. Watching someone drink it was...intense.
I'm into knife play and if the person I'm playing with wants me to cut them I don't mind doing it. I have taken blood from a donor that I knew very well, we both had been tested to make sure we were both clean.
I'm more psy than sang, but I don't mind partaking from someone that I'm close to. I don't mind someone I know well cutting me and licking the blood that trickles down. I don't like mouth to wound contact though.

porcelaine -> RE: Bloodletting and Vampirism (9/24/2009 4:44:57 PM)

i'm not blood averse at all. i have usually been the one that is fed upon, although i will do it on occasion or clean up if instructed to do so. as for blades and needles, most definitely. i'm unsure if it is the sensation which actives the feral part of me or merely the fact i enjoy being used so much that if he desires to prick and carve i take no objection. it is probably a bit of both coupled with the stimulation i get from body modification too.
