The question of titles can get a bit complex, in some lifestyles like for example among Goreans Master and Mistress is the title every slave call every Master, while for others Master is a title that have to be earned or a word akin to vanillas calling one another my love or darling which should not be shared with others then the partner.
I am a free woman now but when i was a Gorean slave it would off course not have bothered me and it did not bother me when others called my Master for well Master, first off all that was a normal thing, second of all he was never my Master, i did not own him, it was the other way around, he owned me, I had no right to get upset if someone else called him anything, it was his job to determine what he wanted or did not wanted to be called. When I was a BDSM sub would I mind if somone else called my Dom Master, no not really as I am not hung up on that word, however I understand why some might.
I would assume your friend was used to every Dominant being called Master and that she just meant to respect him.
