Even Bugliosi said she should've been granted early release. It seemed nonsensical not to let her die outside of prison but that's neither here nor there now. She's gone. The media will be onto the next villain story...............luci

There was no way she was ever going to get out, none of the Manson killers ever will.  It's so moot that they all go to those parole hearings every so often and put on their best face.  It's not like it's ever going to happen, terminally ill or not.  I think Manson himself is the only one who stopped trying.   It's too big of a case, too gruesome, too political, too publicized etc.

Since she was sentenced to be executed by the state for her crimes, dying in prison seems appropriate.

i cannot say that she should be allowed to die in the arms of her loved ones. she removed that right from her victims and no amount of penance can ever compensate for what was lost. it was a violation of the sanctity of life. i sincerely don't know how you can rehabilitate a mind that has gone to those depths.

i couldn't help thinking about the guy who was sent home to die (from a Scottish jail) when i heard the news of her death.  The families of her victims in the Tate murders didn't want her to be released, which is understandable, all things considered.  In my humble opinion, the punishment doesn't come close to fitting the crime she committed, but to release her would have made a mockery of our judicial system.  A life sensence should be just that -- life.  It shouldn't mean, life, but only until you get really sick.

PS i don't even have to be in a bitchy mood to say what goes around comes around and one down, four to go.

She died in prison, as well she should have for her horrific crime. I don't know if her repentence was genuine or not but I hope it was and I hope she finds forgiveness in the after life both from her victims and a loving God.

I've been fascinated by this case since I watched "Helter Skelter" as a kid. 
As someone else pointed out, the original sentence was death but California abolished the death penalty so the term was life in prison.  Totally cofortable with no release based on her illness.  She was lucky to live as long as she did on the State's dollar and she certainly was given a more kindeath than she gave Tate or the others. 
Did learn from the article above that she had a kid...never knew that.

Her and all of her little playmates should have been put to death almost 40 years ago instead of sucking up my tax dollars for their useless incerceratiom.
