ORIGINAL: tazzygirl ~UPDATE~ Census worker's death was suicide, not anti-government violence, police say The death scene was "staged to appear as a homicide," according to a statement released today by the Kentucky State Police. The body of William E. "Bill" Sparkman Jr., 51, was found in the backwoods of Clay County on Sept. 12, with his hands, feet and mouth bound with duct tape, rope around his neck and the word "Fed" written on his chest. The rope was tied to a tree, though police said his body was not hanging but, rather, on the ground. State police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation began looking into the possibility that he was targeted because of his job collecting information for the federal Census Bureau. Officials said today that Sparkman had in fact acted alone. Witnesses told them that Sparkman had discussed suicide, as well as "perceived negative attitudes toward federal entities by some residents of Clay County." Also discovered, the statement said, were two life-insurance policies Sparkman had recently purchased that did not pay benefits in case of suicide. Evidence at the scene and DNA testing concluded that Sparkman acted alone, the release said. The cause of death was "asphyxiation/strangulation" at the spot where his body was discovered. http://www.latimes.com/news/nation-and-world/la-na-census-worker25-2009nov25,0,7187297.story Thats odd, because Mars just said... quote:
ORIGINAL: MarsBonfire No Heretic... I mean the jokes being made at the victim's expense. You can make as many jokes as you like about the murderer as you like. It's a good way of dealing with the difficult news about such a horrid event.) I was just a little taken aback by the jokes being made about the dead guy's being employed by the government. But I'm not surprised you deliberately twisted what I was saying. (It's the GOP way, after all.) The other thing that some seem to be missing here was that the murderer(s) wanted the body to be found. They could just as easily buried the body somewhere out in that Kentucky forrest, and no one would have known, possibly for decades. No, this man was murdered for showing up on someone's porch with a clip board, to ask a few questions. He was killed and his body put on display, with a word scrawled on his chest to leave no question as to why they did it. He was killed because he worked for the government. He carried no gun, no knife, had no power to so much as write a traffic ticket. But for that, he was hung in a tree. The first of the killings that will undoubtably come, thanks to people like Beck, like Limbaugh and others... all stirring up hatred for our elected leaders. Yeah, Heretic. The whole situation is just so fucking hailarious, isn't it? Talk about the poster child for stirring up hate.
