I have just recently pondered on this topic so I know very little of it; however, I find this to be very interesting because it  may be the only real alternative to oil in the next 10-15 years.

The one thing I do like about the whole global climate change thing, is that it does encourage many people to go out and find alternative to oil which will not only help our economy but also get us off of oil. This in return hurts nations like Russia and Iran. [:D]

Back in the early '70s I remember reading some articles in Popular Science that discussed using algae for all sorts of things, including fuels. It was an interesting proposition then and I do hope that it is included in an overall national policy on renewable fuels.

As to hurting another country by not purchasing their oil, I wouldn't consider that to be a benefit nor necessarily a goal to achieve. While the governments of those countries may have been, and in some cases continue to be, a thorn in the side of the US government, it is the general population of those countries that actually produce those products and, hopefully, can benefit from their sale by earning profits, wages, and salaries for their work. I may be in the minority but I don't want to see the citizenry get hurt because their governments do something crazy.

Climate change is a hoax BTW.  It is a scam to assess a global tax on us for world government.  ie- cap and trade.

I agree that it is a hoax however why not use it as a reason to get off oil if people are willing to believe it?

And this fits in with using algae as a fuel... how?

Trying to find renewal sources of energy has been an ongoing project for the past thirty or forty years, that I have been aware. The technology back then was crude and it wasn't economically feasible to make it work. Now, with a US Navy contract in hand, at least one company has figured it out enough to make a source the Navy feels is consistent enough, in both quantity and quality, to want to purchase.

Besides this being a good business opportunity, it is also the beginning of the US finally weaning itself from foreign sources of energy. I hope more US companies get involved.

Again, I don't see how this fits in with climate and/or global taxation conspiracies.

I am in favor of exploring the technology.

If you noticed tho- gas came down just as money was being sunk into well and small time producers.   The price movement was to consolidate power.

Why is it that taxes go UP.  They do not come down-  nor do argh never mind.    life is carbon and carbon is about to be deemed a contraband=- taxed at the least- and possibly more onerous then that.

I suppose I shouldn't have said that here at this thread considering it isn't a political thread made in the political section. Thus, I will not comment on why I believe hurting Russia's economy is a good thing. So, I don't think when I say things; I just spout out what ever comes to mind. [&:]

Yup, making the Russian economy collapse for the second time in 50 years is a damn good way to make sure they don't decide to do something with that huge fucking military they have...yuppers dude, that's exactly what is needed. Break the fuckers so they have nothing to loose by trying. Dude, read some history, correlate the economic situation of almost every aggressor nation and see if you don't see a pattern...wealthy and prosperous countries rarely start major wars.
And a desperate Russia just might decide to throw a few nukes around, or sell some to somebody with the cash.....a little thought and comprehension of the way the world actually functions would show you that helping Russia's economy (and everybody else's for that matter) is in all of our interests.

A wealthy neighbour rarely covets what you have, but a poor one does...and a poor covetous neighbour who just happens to have one of the largest military machines on earth as well as the single largest collection of nuclear weapons is not a safe neighbour.
