Just put on those big girl panties and you can do anything.

No, not those silly.

Those you save for the raft should you get shipwrecked one day.

The ones around your ankles girly girl.

See, more confident already.

Cheese.

Aileen,
You post really made me smile on the inside.... i remember when i hit me that i had really developed two different people...There was the 'work' me...and then there was the 'other' me. The 'work' me, was very confident...very secure...very profession..very outspoken...knew what she was talking about...etc. ect. ect. ect.
The trick is i believed in the skills i had as a professional. i believed in what i was doing... Granted, it didn't happen over night. But here is what worked for me. Every day as enter the work day (or work field or however you have this set up) remind yourself that these people are coming to YOU... Because YOU know more than they do. YOU are the professional. YOU know what they need. YOU know what they need. YOU know what is best. YOU know what would be in their best interest. Never forget that YOU are providing them with a service.
And when all else fails...Pick a person who means a lot to you...And say to yourself *So and So believes in me* it must be true, and go out there and act as though you believe it is...and eventually one day you will find that you do actually believe it to be so
Kali

We're studying the chapter on "marketing yourself" in school right now.  You have to advertise.  A Yellow Pages ad is a must.  Craig's List.  If the local schools have functions where they print programs, like sporting events, concerts, etc., they usually sell ads to local business for a very reasonable price.

If you're focusing on children's photography, make up flyers advertising yourself and post them where parents and grandparents are.  Or, if it's wedding photography, post them in places prospective brides go.  Find out where and when the bridal expo's are and attend.  And so on.

I know you spend time down the Jersey shore .....and I know lots of people have family, engagement, etc. photos taken at the beach.  Post flyers anywhere you can there.

As far as what to do and how to act?  Easy.  You already look good.  Just smile, make eye contact and hold out your hand when you greet people.  They will usually ask the questions if they're interested, and you'll already know the answers because you built the business.  Just be yourself, be natural, don't try to hardsell.  Your work is fabulous, it will sell itself.

Hey cjan, welcome back!
That's a great idea for Aileen's business! She could rent a highway billboard, "AILEEN'S CUSTOM GASH SHOTS, $50."
