For the last two years I've been hearing about Howard Stern going to Sirus Satallite Radio. Why all of a sudden is CBS trying to sue him? After all, it's not like Viacom can't invest or end up owning XM radio anyways. Who thinks Stern actually broke his contract and should pay up to CBS?

Without knowing specifics it is hard to say. I doubt that Stern would have left himself open to that type of lawsuit intentionally. The FCC has never felt better though I am sure.

Stern has lost all appeal for me for quite some time now. I just do not find him funny anymore.

I don't know the ACTUAL whole story, but from what I gather is this:

CBS is claiming that BEFORE Stern left, he was 'pushing' (advertising for) Sirus Satellite, which, I am guessing was against his current contract.

Like I said, I heard this on the news last night but I am not 100% sure how accurate it is.

i heard this as well. BUT the radio station can bleep out anything they dont like. And i beleive they knew Howard was talking about going to Sirius. i think That if they listen to him on the air and they don't like something he says they can bleep it out. They've never had a problem bleeping out his stuff before. i think Stern might win this one.

It might be an advertisment move to atleast be taken to court. After all, it only raises more publicity for him and Sirus Radio. He may not have broken his contract, but he atleast bent some rules enough to be sued over it and be put back on front page news. As for the whole story, can we really trust the news provided by CBS or other Viacom Networks?

I'm not here to raise the ethics of Stern, but only his rights to free speech and to work for whoever wants to hire him.
In this particular case, he has my support.

Sirius then has thought about this before Howard told CBS to fuck off........

It is not really news, Sirius sees paying off howards fine as still profitable or at least under the overall profitline if given the blue sky.....

This is not an interesting subject reall.

Certainly of no lasting import.

Why sure it does. Otherwise I wouldn't have brought it up. It's especially important to the legal profession of contracts and to broadcasters both future and present. The decissions of this case will either change or give more caution towards contracts and broadcasting.

To me, Stern is like a coalmine canary for free speech. You don't have to like the canary but they're pretty handy. Of course, you don't morn when they buy the big one either.
