I'm a professional with 14 yrs in the salon/spa biz - Cosmetology for 14 yrs, and then 5 years as massage therapist. I was an educator in the biz as well. I'll tell you that even though I get pedis every 2 wks-1 mo, and I am professionally trained to give them, it is not easy to do them for a woman to the same standard that she can go get one done by a nail person who does it every day. Cuticle nipping and really honing callouses are a fine art, as is getting the polish on smooth as glass, inside the lines and to last without chipping. Product is everything, and talent is everything. I would cut yourself a break and consider having your treatment be "foot worship" for relaxation purposes. Unless you go to cosmetology school it will never really be like a professional pedicure to a discriminating woman. The truth is, what one of the Asian girls can do perfectly in 30 mins, you will struggle to do barely passably in an hour. I appreciate your commitment, and I would urge you to have patience and don't expect yourself to be able to do a professional job. Go get spa pedicures yourself, as watching and feeling how it goes will teach you much.
