Ok people i do realise that i may be opening myself up to ridicule etc

But as always i am trying to better myself in many ways of personal servitude another of which is peticures..

Having read various books/articles and apart from attending some sort of "night school class" any helpful hints would be welcome..

Bearing in mind i have "practised" on myself (oh yes i have !!) ..

And of course not wanting any potential Mistress/Dommes feet to resemble something that "stevie wonder has attacked with a chainsaw" i would appreciate some help <please>

Giving pedicures is not such an uncommon form of service. Personally I'm not into feet, and a fine punishment for me would be to be directed to give a pedicure, suck on toes, or some such. LOL

As for practice...Most women love pedicures...have you any female friends you can practice on? That's probably the best way to get good at. Ask for feedback.

I've never given one or gone to a professional for one, but I know there's tons of online resources you can research.

This is a very general rough guide:
Start by soaking the feet in warm/hot water, this softens the skin and opens the pores to make the rest of the procedure easier. Adding oil or such to the water might be a nice touch, but make sure it's a scent or substance that appeals to the person. Then you can apply some exfoliant to help slough off the dead skin. Then you can work with various implements to scrub away callouses, smooth over lines, and general invigorate the feet. My preferred tool is a pumice stone, but there's a wide variety as well as different roughness grades. Once you've gotten the skin done, you can massage in a nice rich lotion to hle keep the skin soft and moisturized.

If you're also doing the nails, you must be very careful to be clean and not break the skin. Carefully work around the nail bed and go slow.

With all of these steps, take your time and infuse it with lots of firm stroking and caressing, a very sensuous and positive experience.

pedicures are wonderful. i give them to myself and i give them to my partner - we both love it.

the information above just about says it all. i would suggest that if you are to polish the nails, that you use a bit of remover to go over the nails to remove and oils so the polish will adhere for a longer time.

have fun

Hello dave,

I'm not able to offer much help in telling how to give, since I've only ever been on the receiving end of a pedicure and rarely pay attention to the actual proceedure. I would suggest you follow what was said about finding volunteers to whom you could give free pedicures to. I'd be first in line if I were in your geographical area. Maybe even take out a personal ad offering the service, you might be pleasantly surprised, just make sure you state that you are a novice.

I know you've already done some reading, but I'm still going to offer up a couple of links. I hope you will find them helpful. If only there were such dedicated foot worshippers in my area, sigh.

I recommend asking for a lesson with any salon that uses the Vietnamese or Koreans, they are excellent in the total art of pedicures, foot and leg massage--pay for one but use it as a lesson---when My boy gets here, that is how I am going to teach him what I like and what he needs to learn---smiles

Last week one of my boys was in attendance when I got a pedicure. He was not only to watch but take note and ask questions. He did very well. I see this particular boy every Thursday at noon, and today he had the opportunity to apply what he'd learned. He did very well.

The only thing that I would add to LA's advice is that you should put some rock salt in the very warm water for foot soaking, and epsom salt works well too. You should continually rinse the foot and the sanding/smoothing implements while working. And, have plenty of towels handy.

i get pedicures pretty regularly. That will be a big help in knowing how to give one. Find a good place though, i have had poor excuses for a pedicure before. When i gave my Master his first pedicure i used the knowledge i gained from my own experiences. He enjoyed it a great deal. i love receiving them and wanted to give him the same pleasure.

Kudos to you for working on ways to better yourself :)

Some tips for the home pedicure:

Make sure the pedicuree is comfortable with a drink, coffee, munchies, what have you. Put on a good movie or a CD.

Get a foot bath that is heated (some massage, too) - they're not expensive, usually around $30.

Get yourself a nice picnic type basket or the like to keep all your supplies in.

Check the Dr. Scholl's section in your local Walmart/Target. They have a lot of good basics from pumice stones to creams and exfoliants to my personal favorite, a Swedish file. It is basically a large file for callouses, and while it does a great job, is actually fairly gentle. The smoothing side does a much better job at smoothing heels than a pumice does.

You can also get "hot boots" (more in the winter season, though you may be able to get some clearance ones now). They are heated slippers. How best to use them - after pedicure but before painting nails, slather a heavy cream (body butter is a good option) all over feet leaving an excess of cream on, put socks on, then pop on the hot boots for a hour or so. It helps the cream soak in and your feet are amazingly soft afterwards. Great thing to do while relaxing, watching a movie.

You really want to use heavy duty lotion on feet rather than an everyday body lotion. I like body butter, but there are also other products on the market. Try a few and see what you like.

You do want to invest in good quality equipment (clippers, cuticle stick, etc). Check out somewhere that sells professional level to the public, like Sally Beauty Supply. A good pair of cuticle nippers will cost somewhere around $25. They will also have an assortment of scrubs and creams, as well as the little foam flip flops (to wear while the polish is drying) and toe separators (to keep toes from touching until the polish is dry).

To tidy up the skin around the nails of toes: apply cuticle cream (also called cuticle remover) and let sit for a minute or two. Gentle push cuticles back with a cutitle stick. If you are VERY precise with scissors, you can CAREFULLY trim excess with good cuticle scissors. You can also trim a little of the dry skin from around the nail bed. Follow up with rubbing in cuticle oil. Cuticle cream and cuticle oil are usually found with the nail polishes.

When using a dark color on the nails, make sure to use a base coat. Habitual use of dark colors without a base coat WILL turn your toenails yellow. Typical painting includes base coat - 2 coats of color - top coat.

Like dark reds? Track down a color by China Glaze called "On Your Knees". Really.

HomeMedics makes those heated vibrating back massagers that are nice to set up in the chair for the pedicuree to use while feet are getting worked on.

A course in just pedicures and manicures is evidentially available in Ohio; possibly elsewhere, without a prohibitive cost. It may seem like a waste, learning to make acrylic nails, etc., but the course will teach Y/you proper technique as well as health hazards and how to avoid them. Remember....Y/you will probably make Y/your subject bleed occassionally, at least at first. Blood needs to be handled differently than other contaminants. Ingrown toenails and nail fungus also must be avoided by proper technique and cleansing.

I actually plan on it this month as I've got a gift certificate to a spa I went to when I got my hair trimmed. I'm just really low-maintenence and picky- and I REFUSE to get fake nails put on me or get my hair permanently colored, and all that other stuff, so it's usually more cost effective and simple to do it myself.

But will let you know how it goes, might become addicted!

LA i had my first pedicure just a copule of years ago and i am addicted to them. Just a wonderful feeling to have your feet tended to, and oh that massage....

Plus i always feel like i'm at the groomers for my Master ~ grin ~

my salon has "On your knees," as well. It's a nice color, actually!

i refuse fake nails too, no matter how real they might look. mine grow long and strong naturally and if they break they break. i would recommend a manicure just for the hand massage - so relaxing.

I've been going for pedicures about once a month for several years....definately worth it.

I did have acrylic nails for years as well - took them off about a month ago. I miss them :-( But I don't want to ruin my nails completely so it was time to take them off.

i had great, natural nails in Florida and went for a manicure mainly because i cannot get the polish to look the way a pro does. But in Cleveland, my nails are very weak, so now they have an acrylic overlay, but they're still all mine.

Pedicures i get whenever the gods allow and boy, hooday, are they wonderful.

Hmmm, just thinking about all the time and money i'd save having my own, on call, professionally trained pedicurist/manicurist . Might have to incorporate taking a class as a required task for being accepted as my partner in the future. Indeed a great idea.

Just a little addition to whats already been suggested:

If you get parafin and a heating device, then ladel wax into a bag (you can also do this with gloves for hands in manicures),,, then place the foot in the bag and massage the foot surrounded by the wax untl it hardens, it feels awesome. (Gotta make sure the wax is at a comfortable temperature before placing a body part in it).

Go get a professional pedicure yourself and take notes!

Have fun!
