LadyPact -> It slices, it dices.... it cuts down vines? (9/30/2009 11:02:13 AM)

A bit of background information here.  While I did miss the CM meet up that was arranged during the Folsom Street Fair, I was able to attend the main event.  What a party!  It was like nothing I've ever been to before and had a fabulous time.

One of the extra treats was the opportunity to shop at some of the stores that are in the same location.  We had ducked into a couple to get ourselves out of the sun and look for some specific items.  For Me, that is kind of a treat.  Just walking in to a regular business and picking through the toys.  Long story short, while I was waiting for MP to check out some accessories for the wand, I went browsing a bit.  I found some lovely whips along the back wall that I was having a very good time playing with.  So much so that MP decided that one would make a lovely birthday present for Me.  God I love that man!

Anyway, so I have this new 4 ft beauty.  It is the same as the one pictured here http://www.mr-s-leather.com/W84.html except that Mine is black leather.  She is absolutely gorgeous and I am just thrilled with the way she fits in My hand.

So, I brought her home.  Since then, I've been practicing with her daily.  While I do have other toys of the same length in My collection, nothing quite handles like the beauty of a whip.  The feel of the leather handle in your hand.  The sound of the crack.  For a person like Me, even practice is ecstasy.

The funny thing about this is, what I have chosen to practice on.  In the back of our house, we have a small patio that is covered by a trellis, which has some lovely hanging vines.  These have made for excellent target practice!  I've been taking them off leaf by leaf.  This is fabulous for Me!  Not only am I outside where I can't do any damage in the house, I have targets that show Me how My accuracy is doing.

There's only one problem.  Eventually, I will have cut down all of the vines and will need something else.  Since I'm just getting back into regular whips, I do not feel that I am ready to pass the 'cutting the toilet paper' test.  I kind of need something in between.

This brings Me to My question to fellow whip enthusiasts out there.  What types of things have you used for target practice?  I have this great set up where I can hang objects.  What has worked best for you?

I like to make paper targets. I have loads of scrap paper at my disposal and can make the target virtually any size from very small, to whatever I could think up with a 12"x18" sheet. Usually though, I just use some string and tie bits up. Also, balloons can be fun if you don't hate the popping noise. I was thinking one day of combining two thrills........whips and bubble wrap......pop pop pop... I haven't yet but it would be fun.

Oh man, not a whip enthusiast myself, but if I was, I would SOOOO be practicing that whole "mark of zorro" thing.

I am thinking you are mixing up your methods of destruction......that was a sword......if I remember correctly.

Maybe I want to be a superhero cross between Zorro and Indiana Jones? *laughs*.

Or maybe I just needed more coffee.

Ohhhhhhhh, I see how you are, whip in one hand, sword in the other!

What will it be, a J or an L?

While it's fun using the apple tree for that, autumn will be upon us soon and it'll have no leaves left ....lol

I peg a tea towel to the clothes line or the climbing frame in the garden and clip a clothes peg to the centre and practice just nipping the peg off.

A friend of mine used to use newspaper.  He would set up a full section across a wooden frame and have at it.

I’m not sure who it was, but there was a post a long time ago where someone mentioned using inflated balloons and tried to not pop them.
In the meantime, I have this vine I’ve been trying for several years to kill off in my yard---I’d be willing to mail a few cuttings to you and I guarantee you will never run out of vines to whip!  [:D]

I use duct tape squares, attached by a corner to a 2 x 4.

Snapping clothespins off of the clothesline is good practice.

Now that I remember, I got to get the dead vines off of my windmill. Time to get the fall garden going.

LP's whip sounds totally awesome!  Of course she had to move across country and THEN acquire such a toy.  Boogers!!!!!!

I know a certain Dom in PVE who uses the weight bench out by the pool. The poor thing is now in desperate need of some duct tape! [:D]

If you have a Trellis (SP?) or a Patio Cover for those of us Less Dignified Folk.

I sugest taking Lengths of string and Attaching Washers to them hang them to ASS level and practice SPINNING THEM. If they Swing You Failed. If you can Spin them then you have made the appropriate Contact.

Anything else is not teaching you control just aim.

With this you will learn both at the same time.

Remember that knot at the end of that tassle can cut and that is a difficult cut to explain to the Doctor.

I knew a guy who used to hang rolls of toilet paper and then try to go through just one sheet.
