Judging by some of the horror stories you hear, "free" government health care is little or no better than no health care, anyway.

Yeah well, his point was that 45,000 people die each year because they lack health insurance. I haven't heard any Repubs call him a liar like one did to the Prez in the joint session. Grayson did apologize to the families of the dead.

So, what is the GOP health care plan anyway? Grayson says it is "Don't get sick." Does the GOP have an answer for that? Have they even denied it? Noooooo.

Bloody hell Sanity  have you been reduced to selective reading too?[sm=banghead.gif][sm=banghead.gif]

In the past 3 hours, Ive called around to five random doctors offices in toronto, four of them will take new patients,  two  of them have hours open till nine tonite, three of them could give me an appointment before wednesday of next week. All I need to do is show my health card when/if I was to go. oooh and two walk in clinics have told me I can be seen up to 9pm too.... no need for an appointment, just walk in...
Thats such a lousy system isnt it?

Ah, but Canada doesn't have the mint-flavored tounge depressors... you can only get those via the US health care system!

Snorts, every time my tongue gets pressed, I dont think about the flavour, well not until later

Judging by some of the horror stories that one hears, Sanity, there's a mask wearing lunatic waiting to cut you into pieces if you dare to go anywhere near a camp, woods or lake. Shall we all stay inside with doors lock to avoid them or hope that bigfoot eats them. I've heard stories about bigfoot so it must be true.

What you call horror stories, I call fairy tales.

MarsBonfire -> RE: We never said people will die, like Grayson (D-FL) has (10/2/2009 10:45:36 AM)

...and what he calls fairy tales, I call unsubstantiated talking points passed onto you, via right wing nutjob radio and TV hosts.

How many people do you think die every year that have health insurance ? I don't know, but I'd bet it is way more than 45,000. 40,000 die on our highways every year and they have insurance.

Wait, wait! There is no equivalency here. The Harvard study reports that 45,000 people die each year because they lack healthcare. That is not the same as saying 45,000 people die each year from highway accidents even though they have healthcare. If you are going to comment upon what Grayson said then comment on what he did in fact say not on what you vaguely, incidently might have heard him to say, or heard someone else say what they interpreted he said. Scheeesh!! Put away the bumper stickers.

And to the GOP camp followers Show Me Your Healthcare Plan.

To get back to the original topic... sorta.

It sort of made me chuckle when I heard Rep. Grayson's remarks... especially in light of the speech given by the Speaker of the House not so long before it...  I wonder if those were real tears, and if she really is all that worried about the "health care rhetoric".  She probably is, just as long as it is pro her position, or anti anybody else.

When in Rome, and all that jazz,
Thadius

Either way, I'm pretty sure that people will die.

They tend to, sooner or later.

MarsBonfire -> RE: We never said people will die, like Grayson (D-FL) has (10/3/2009 7:15:08 AM)

Yes, and if we could only get the rabid GOP folk to die first, long before they had a chance to breed, we'd improve the human race immensely.

xBullx -> RE: We never said people will die, like Grayson (D-FL) has (10/3/2009 5:47:56 PM)

Opinions vary I suspect.

I have often thought something very similar about you as an individual, but not necessarily the same thing about any "group" in general. But hateful rhetoric seems to be a common theme with some.

I know, I know you were just making lighthearted jest..... Right?

Have a nice day!

Yep, Bull, that's exactly it. Because Grason stopped being such a sheep and decided to actually speak the truth (with a little hyperbole, something he must've picked up from his GOP friends in the gutter) suddenly everyone's up in arms. Yeah, how hateful it is to talk in the same way that the right has been,  fucking us all over for the last two decades!

I'm glad you saw my statement as what it was. It's encouraging to know that those of you who worship Norman still have a firm grasp of the obvious. (Or, perhaps it's just you... you certainly seem to be a little more articulate than most of your homestone humping bretheren. Most of them I place on about the same level as "the Nerd" character from Robot Chicken.)

Ja, I guess I will have to put some wtf sorta question marks here myself, Mars.

You are surrounded by people who have read him, some that are more intense in their agreement than others, I will give you that much. But otherwise, that is uncalled for.

Ron Melby (who is not hiding behind Hup the Fool).

SpinnerofTales -> RE: We never said people will die, like Grayson (D-FL) has (10/4/2009 10:19:44 AM)

Mars, I am usually far more to your side of an argument than I am to the conservative position, but I feel this one is one to speak up upon. I think it's a bad idea, no matter how angry you are at someone's position to bring their preferences in relationship style into play. I have a line of acceptability in political debate that may go beyond most, but I have to say that my opinion is that mocking someone for being a Gorean in this forum steps over that line.

You can be better than that. Be better than that.
