so now the GOP wants Grayson to admit he was wrong and say he was sorry, because as they point out, No One in our party has ever said anything like that, telling people they are going to die.

Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) has called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to officially rebuke Grayson.

Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) initially said that he was going to introduce a resolution reprimanding Grayson, but recently took to the floor to instead request that he “ apologize to our leader"

The GOP outrage is empty. After all, neither Price nor McHenry called on their fellow Republican colleagues to apologize after making absurdly false comments
about Democratic plans in the past few months on the House floor:
“Last week Democrats released a health care bill which essentially said to America’s seniors: Drop dead.” [Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite (R-FL), 7/21/09]

– “They’re going to save money by rationing care, getting you in a long line. Places like Canada, United Kingdom, and Europe. People die when they’re in line.” [Rep. Steve King (R-IA), 7/15/09]
– “The Republican plan will] make sure we bring down the cost of health care for all Americans and that ensures affordable access for all Americans and is pro-life because it will not put seniors in a position of being put to death by their government.” [Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), 7/28/09]
– “That’s exactly what’s going on in Canada and Great Britain today…and a lot of people are going to die.” [Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA), 7/10/09]
– “One in five people have to die because they went to socialized medicine! … I would hate to think that among five women, one of ‘em is gonna die because we go to socialized care.” [Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), 7/15/09]

Ahhhh...if only they realized there are such things as recorders and TV cameras to record what they say.

He also said that having no public option was Americas holocaust. It's just another double standard. He's an idiot.

I'd listen to him if I were you. If ANYONE knows about double standards it's the right wing.

you are forgeting fear factor. You know first we had killer bees, then avian flu, then swine flu, now healhcare reform, regardless, they need to make sure we realise if we dont follow them blindly we will die. And then we need to panic.

Let's just suppose, for a second, that the bald faced lie the GOP is talking about is true: They never said that there were going to be "Death Panels" or that the Dems were out to unplug Grandma. Let's instead, look at some of the other lies they HAVE told...

http://www.factcheck.org/2009/08/twenty-six-lies-about-hr-3200/

Then we could also talk about:
WMD
"Mission Accomplished"
"There is no torture program"
"No, we aren't wiretapping Americans"
"No we aren't fucking with the judicial system, replacing judges with guys who are arch conservatives."
"No, Cheany never tried to get his own personal Death Squad."
"Sotamayor is a racist for saying that sometimes a Latina woman might have a better perspective, in racial cases, than a typical old white guy."
"Obama is a racist."
"Obama is a Kenyan"
"Obama is a socialist/ Marxist/ Nazi/ communist."
"You lie!"

Tell you what. You guys (republicans) offically admit you're all  sacks of lying shit, and maybe, just maybe, we'll get Grayson to say he's sorry for telling the truth: the GOP has no health plan, and the best financial solution for patients, under you guys as you have it laid out, is to die quickly. Or at the very least, apologize for lowering himself to the non-existant discourse standards of a typical fringe, republican, bat guano crazy, teabagger.

The only person I have seen apologize for anything on the repub side is Sanford, and he is covering his sorry ass to his "people", as well as the plonker Wilson who apolgised to Obama but that  rang hollower than a whores knickers(ok so my analogy sucks, I didnt wanna say a repub brain)
I dunno, maybe I would respect them more if they COULD apologise.
Ps Mars dahlink you forgot "Obama is a Moooozlem"...or as I heard it the other day from a delightful chap..a "moozlem oreo"

I also really liked the stupid posters Grayson used in his rant. He must have had a 2nd. grade class putting them together.

You don't just hope that that is the truth, Servant. It is your ONLY hope. Since the GOP has offered a total of zero alternative ideas (Tort reform? Let's be serious now) and have generally shown that they don't intend to, on any subject, the only hope they have of regaining the house will be if the democrats do something so ridiculous and distasteful that the republicans look good by comparison. Maybe if they find democratic elected officials in a men's room, trying to cruise a plain clothes detective.....nahhh....been done already by the moral, ethical right wing, hasn't it?

This is a little off topic, but this will happen in 2010. The young voters, 18 to 25 that helped put Obama in office will not turn out for the mid term elections. The 55 + voters will turn out to vote and they are not happy right now. The dems will have big problems in 13 short months.

I think they already do have big problems....I think, as others do, several Dems will be seeking employment in the coming months ahead.

Yeah well, his point was that 45,000 people die each year because they lack health insurance. I haven't heard any Repubs call him a liar like one did to the Prez in the joint session. Grayson did apologize to the families of the dead.

So, what is the GOP health care plan anyway? Grayson says it is "Don't get sick." Does the GOP have an answer for that? Have they even denied it? Noooooo.

How many people do you think die every year that have health insurance ? I don't know, but I'd bet it is way more than 45,000. 40,000 die on our highways every year and they have insurance.

So you're claiming that having health insurance offers no benefit whatsoever?

Interesting. Let's hear your argument.

First off, there is no way to prove that 45,000 people who do not have health insurance die every year. Where in the world did that figure come from ? It means nothing. 25,000 die every year in this Country from the flu. It makes no difference if they had insurance or not. They got the flu and died. Flu shots are free for the poor.

Yeah, and I remember hearing McCain was going to win in a landslide.

Servant, maybe this will help you a little, if you can be bothered to read and digest

http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/09/18/deaths.health.insurance/index.html
Research released this week in the American Journal of Public Health estimates that 45,000 deaths per year in the United States are associated with the lack of health insurance. If a person is uninsured, "it means you're at mortal risk," said one of the authors, Dr. David Himmelstein, an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

http://www.reuters.com/article/healthNews/idUSTRE58G6W520090917?igoogle=1
We're losing more Americans every day because of inaction ... than drunk driving and homicide combined," Dr. David Himmelstein, a co-author of the study and an associate professor of medicine at Harvard, said in an interview with Reuters

The American Journal of Public Health also has a link to the PDF you can download if you wish, but Ill let you do that bit of digging, cos Im  to damn tired right now.

I say the same.  I didn't vote for him during election time in Fl, but will the next time I see his name on the ballot.

Somehow, I don't think Grayson will have much of an effect. After all, you guys have how many nut case blowhards on your side, spewing mental diarehea, and you still manage to have about 40 seats... This despite the fact that voting for a Republican to represent you is like asking an Orc to be a clown at your daughter's 6th birthday party?

I just love the fact that, in this day and age, all you have to do is speak some modicum of truth, and suddenly every enemy you have across the asile is screaming for your head on a pike. Yep. I hope Grayson keeps talking too. I'm really tired of the Dems rolling over and sticking their asses in the air for GOP leatherdaddies who are really just trailer trash abusers.

Republicans in congress? Fuck 'em.

So the complaint really is the GOP's proposals (and there have been more than a dozen of them offered) don't measure up to the Universal Healthcare level.

OMG say it isn't so tell me the GOP really is proposing laws that institute the exact thing they have been against!!!!!!!

Of course the GOP proposals are not as far reaching as the Dem's proposals, it's a flippin policy disagreement area.

For the record here are just a few of the FACTS

H.R. 77; H.R. 109; H.R. 198; H.R. 270; H.R. 321; H.R. 464; H.R. 502; H.R. 544; H.R. 917; H.R. 1086; H.R. 1118; H.R. 1441; H.R. 1458; H.R. 1468; H.R. 1658; H.R. 1891; H.R. 2520; H.R. 2607; H.R. 2692; H.R. 2784; H.R. 2785; H.R. 2786; H.R. 2787; H.R. 3141; H.R. 3217; H.R. 3218; H.R. 3356; H.R. 3372; H.R. 3400; H.R. 3438; H.R. 3454; and H.R. 3478.

All GOP proposals on Healthcare, but none of them go far enough for the Dems,
None of them can get any traction in the House because the promised Bi Partisanship is nothing but a sham. (not that it was very much better under GOP run House it never is)

They are piecemeal for the most part yes.
The closest thing to a comprehensive plan is likely

HR3400 Tom Price R GA (46 Co sponsors)
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.3400:

BTW it has included something that I floated around last year or so about Making all healthcare insurance premiums deductable not just employer provided insurance.

It includes transferability across state lines
It includes expansion of CHIP
