cloudboy -> NFL 2009 Week Four and Counting (10/2/2009 7:41:10 AM)

The other longstanding thread seems to be dying on the vine. But, I say, let's talk some football!

(1) Most Improved Team: JETS. Rex Ryan has retooled the NYJ defense and trading up to get Mark Sanchez has paid dividends.

(2) Best 2009 Free Agent Acquisition: Bart Scott. He's sets the example for a team on and off the field.

(3) Best 2009 Trade: ATL's getting Tony Gonzalez.

(4) Most overrated player: Tony Romo. He does not appear to be developing and seems like a better looking more mobile version of Vinny Testeverde.

(5) Most disappointing team: The Tennessee Titans seem to be paying a heavy price for not upgrading their QB position. Kerry Collins is solid, but he's not a difference maker when the game is on the line.

(6) Most surprising team: This is a close call between DEN and CIN. CIN will remain feisty throughout the season, whereas DEN will suffer playing better teams from here on out.

(7) Worst Team: CLE looks like it hired the wrong coach and it should have traded Derek Anderson while he had market value.

(8) Top four super bowl contenders: Saints, Giants, Ravens, Steelers. (Maybe I have PITT overrated, but if Polamalu returns this is a tough team.)

Games of the Week: BAL at NE and GB at MN.

I find this one funny. People still call him 'overrated' after a whopping 3 years in the position. Let's not forget that some of today's 'gloryboy' quarterbacks didn't even see the superbowl until their 6th or even 9th seasons in some cases.

Well cloud, while I agree with most of your comments, I must, as a loyal fan, take exception to No. 8.  I don't <cough> see the PATS listed there at all, yet I find the Steelers.  Step back from your computer.........take a deep breath..........and repeat that list (grin)...

GO PATS!! (hey do they have a gif for that) lol

You mean the same patricheats who were beaten by.......the JETS? That's...funny. But then again so is his listing as the steelers as a super bowl contender. Face it, they got lucky last year, facing a garbage team in the superbowl. And this year they're beaten by.....the bengals? Yikes.

Sure Loki...pick on da girl. (laughs)

GO PATS!!! (and everyone cheated, lets be honest, we were the only ones caught!)

Is that your best defense? To claim (not prove) that everyone else does it, so it's ok? Wow.

Come now Loki, are you going to admit no other team EVER has done it? nor still does it? I'm just saying SO WHAT.........it didn't win the game, had no outcome on the game...was probably their worst game, but hey.......in the grand scheme of things.  What ties your nuts up? not this surely.

cloudboy -> RE: NFL 2009 Week Four and Counting (10/2/2009 8:52:09 PM)

The other big game of the week is NO v. NYJ.

As for the patriots, the question being bandied about is do we give respect to the uniform or to the team. This team is not the same team that won the Super Bowl, Richard Seymour is in OAK, and Tom Brady coming off major knee surgery. So, I don't have them down yet as a super bowl favorite, but this is the place for every fan to plead his case.

What 'one game' are you referring to? They had detailed, recorded tapes of several. And it led them to the superbowl.

A Jets fan I see Loki......olay I'll call it a draw.

You are right cloud, Seymour may be in Oakland (and doing good for the team rah rah)...Brady may not be up to snuff, but the season is early yet, don't count him out.  The young replacements (ie: Edelman) seem to be doing awesome and if we could only cheat AGAIN (bonus points for the Jet's fan, Loki) by taping some two-way tape to Galloway........IT'S A GIVEN...laughs.  Although a Tom Brady fan, more than a Pats fan, I must admit Brees is looking good.........real good...................

See a jets fan? Where? Certainly not here. I can't stand any new york team.

Most Improved Team ... Detroit Lions
After a winless last season scoring the first win and ending the nightmare is imho the biggest improvment you could achieve !

Greetings from Europe and Go Lions !

Loki45 -> RE: NFL 2009 Week Four and Counting (10/3/2009 4:25:52 PM)

Yeah, it's just pathetic that they were so bad that to "improve," they need only win a single game.

If the Tigers could win a single game, I would be ecstatic.

subrob1967 -> RE: NFL 2009 Week Four and Counting (10/4/2009 4:14:40 PM)

I have to take an exception to #3
Cutler to the Bears is by far the best trade of 09

Loki45 -> RE: NFL 2009 Week Four and Counting (10/4/2009 5:01:59 PM)

Well, as usual, Romo continues to piss me off.

To that I can only say . . . . GO COLTS!!

At least one of my teams is kicking ass.

Crooow -> RE: NFL 2009 Week Four and Counting (10/4/2009 5:15:37 PM)

The saints defense, playing well!?!?!?  Am I living in the '80s again?

Even more pathetic is to be a Chiefs fan, like me, deprived of the small comfort of "hey, at least we've won more recently than Detroit!"
