Half the meds we take are for the side effects of the other meds we are told we must take to survive. Take x pill twice a day. Gives you heartburn? Take y pill once a day. Makes you anxious? Take z pill at bedtime, along with this other pill to help you sleep. No longer able to get it up because x and z mixed together prevents it from working? Cialis (or any of the others) to the rescue. Now that you have that, take this for blood pressure problems.. this for water gain.. and this in case you have trouble breathing.

Man, no wonder why they are advertising!

I had a minor accident two years ago and was admitted to the hospital for a day and a half for "observation".

My "observation" consisted of five different pills I was given twice a day.  When I objected I was told I would have to sign a form declining the medication "against medical advice".

I left the hospital with five prescriptions from three doctors.

I guess they must have "observed" I needed drugs.

My understanding is that the "freebees" such as pens, mouse pads, ect, that drug reps used to give Dr offices and hospitals are now illegal to be given. So they have made it up in food. Yes, they feed the bellies of offies and Administrative workers in hospitals in hopes of lulling them into using their product..

Feel bad? pop a pill or slap on a patch... the why behind the feeling no longer matters.. we got meds to take care of that now!

It is unfortunate that the pharmacology industry is not in business to cure illness. Their greatest profit comes from managing illness. Then they have a permanent customer instead of a temporary one. Market forces, therefore, direct their research to controls, not cures. After a while, prescribing drugs that the patient may never get off becomes normal procedure. I think that is a large part of the problem of over-medicating America.

Orwellian. The song 2525, everything you think do and say, is in the pill you took today.

I will tell you something, I don't do drugs, except for recreation. I was taught that drugs do not solve anything. Now nobody in the world has ever tried to force me to take a pill. That is your perogative. It's just like the trade imbalance. The people spoke, they put the money into imports from the day the first Toyota was sold on this soil.

Just as the people spoke then and industry responded, the people have given them the idea that we want a pill for anything. They got the idea from the patients in the first place. The money would never be there unless people put it there.

They are in business to make money. That is all. They must maximize profits or risk their carreers, and in some cases their freedom. Have to watch out for a percieved confict of interest. Even morality can be considered a conflict of interest. This is the world. Welcome.

Sheesh Spinner the way you paint the picture....I might just get the idea that Big Pharm can't afford to cure me  lestif they  lose all that income from me being sick.
Nah...that can't be the case....I mean lets face it if something that silly and counterproductive  had managed to worm its way into our Health Care System our elected officials would be working day and nite trying to excise this evil ,they would swiftly move to reform the system and bring sanity back to Health care.
I must of misunderstood your post
