ORIGINAL: cloudboy Here are my votes: BEST PICTURE: CAPOTE BEST ACTOR: PHILLIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN. CAPOTE BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: GEORGE CLOONEY. SYRIANA BEST ACTRESS: REESE WITHERSPOON, WALK THE LINE BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: RACHEL WEISZ, Capote http://www.oscar.com/nominees/list.html ------ I'm in bad shape this year sorting out the oscar noniminees b/c I have not seen: Transamerica, North Country, Junebug, The Constant Gardner, Mrs. Henderson Presents, or Pride and Prejudice. It pretty much disqualifies me from the Best Actress and Supporting Actress categories altogether. ---- My own top ten movies of 2005 would be: 1. Capote (Seemed like real life, not a movie.) 2. Downfall ( Best depiction of Hitler's psyche I've ever seen. It provided a great feel for his madness.) 3. Brokeback Mountain ( Repression --- throw it off and get killed --- keep it on and be miserable. ) 4. Syriana ( An updated version of the Ugly American.) 5. Separate Lies ( Marital relations, love, betrayal, honestly, and secrets -- all tightly British wrapped.) 6. Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room ( Jaw dropping stuff and media ignored.) 7. Batman Begins (Dark, cool, and brooding ---- very fun.) 8. War of the Worlds ( Loved the settings and the terror, characters were WEAK, but it was a character proof film.) 9. Crash ( Distinct lives on the edge --- somehow intersecting each other across the divide.) 10. The Squid and the Whale ( Who says Adults have to be role models? They can be selfish pigs and model it to future generations.) --- Worst Movies of the Year: Melinda & Melinda Sarah Silverman Jeasus is Magic Just a quick note... recently watched ''Walk the line'' ''Crash'' and the ''Constant Gardner'' - Excellent films, all three of them. - The Ranger
