This is going to show My age a bit. I figure that's ok because not every person on these boards is exactly a spring chicken. For those of you who are, bare with Me being an old fogey. Back when I was younger, a couple of decades back before the internet, there used to be this phenomenon. There was always one person in the same age group who would be the one who had a boyfriend/girlfriend who lived in a far away location. (Usually Canada for those of us who grew up in the US.) This person wasn't generally one of the more popular kids. Usually not very attractive, socially inept, and didn't have a lot of friends. When the time came around for everyone to go to the dance or out on a date, they never went. They would never tell you it was because they weren't asked. It was always because of the ficticious bf/gf in the far away location. Now, please understand My illustration above. Today we do have the net and there are a number of people involved with others who are not in the same locations. There are a lot of LDRs out there for various reasons. As many of you know, My dynamic is currently one of them thanks to Mistress Military. What I'm talking about here is the new spin on the old trick that, somehow, we're supposed to fall for. The threads come with subjects like these. Since this is the Ask A Mistress forum, I'll be gender specific. "My Mistress sent me to ask about humiliation ideas." "My Mistress wants me to stretch my ass. What do I do?" "My Mistress sent me to get your opinions on what a good slave is." "My Mistress wants to know how to play." The number of people who hide behind the M type or s type that doesn't exist truly astounds Me. It's funny but the other person that is supposedly linked to the originator of the question never has a profile with a picture or has ever met anyone else on the site. Are we really supposed to fall for this? Listen, folks. You really don't have to create the adult version of an 'imaginary friend' to come here and ask questions. If you want to have an intelligent discussion about things related to dynamics, or BDSM, or anything else, we'll be more than happy to do so. (Not wank material.) We'll talk about how we think about these things relate to our personal preferences to our heart's content. We just really don't need the new age version of the bf/gf from far away to do so. Be on the level. Ask your questions honestly. You may enjoy the result. Does anybody else see this?

Yes, yes I do see this and "BOGUS IS REAL!!" I never went to prom or anything of that type. I did not have an excuse other than 'i rather dislike all of those people on a whole.' Honesty is very appreciated. Can I still create an imaginary friend though? I get so lonely in this head of mine. I'll even tell you that s/he is imaginary because honesty is a good policy. and no Lady Pact you are not an old fogey. bad thoughts, bad thoughts.

I think a lot of people, especially online, create imaginary partners, both past and present. I am sure the reasons vary person to person, but the biggest I would think are insecurity, and a fear of not being taken seriously. Or perhaps, not being seen as desirable.

LOL... I once was a simi regular at a bar in CA. and one day I went in after not being there in a while and someone told me about all the men saying they were having fun with me. I laughed and said... well damn... I guess I've been having a lot more fun than I knew! Let's have a drink on all the fun they think I'm having! These days... I am starting to wonder if I am ever going to have fun again... I may be the next one coming in with an adult friend. But... really... I'm sure the color of my vibrator will have to be a part of his name, to be honest of course. Or maybe I can go with how long or wide it is. Yes.. that sounds far more kinky and less vibrator racist. Why not get one that plugs into the wall? It seems that it would not die. I suppose one of the reasons as to why people come in with imaginary friends is that they do not want to feel vulnerable and exposed, all alone. Or simply put they do not feel comfortable in their skin as of yet.
