It wasnt in 12 days... gesh... he was nominated in that time... nominations are accepted by members in good standing.. as the link i provided earlier explained. JUST because you are nominated doesnt mean you will win. Do i think he deserved it? No, not yet. But that is my personal opinion, based upon what i see from the US. I dont know how the international community is viewing him, nor do you. His winning may have been based upon things we dont, or cant see. Or it could have been just a plain slap in the face to Bush.

Either way, to blame Obama for this is silly.

Tazzy, I don't like that "can't see" stuff.
And what's the "yet?" In other words if he keeps doing the old soft shoe and doesn't piss off anyone in Norway?
As for Bush if that was their purpose then they're dumber than Bush is, he's too dumb to insult.

Our views of world events are colored by our experiences, both as individuals and as a nation. Compared to other nations, we have it pretty damn good. We may not see things as other nations do. Thats the "cant see" stuff.

I dont see him as doing the old soft shoe bit. Who was it who said walk softly and carry a big stick? Jumping up and down, making threats and showing off our muscle hasnt been working. New times, new steps.

To say that i am a staunch supporter of Obama at this point would be a lie. Im worried that he doesnt seem to be able to get anything done. Yet i also have to temper that with the knowledge that many are fighting against him, and uphill battles are often the hardest, and slowest, ones to win.

I thought exactly the same damn thing when I read that BS

Maybe Republicans should stop electing idiots like Bush and Palin and then there wouldn't be a need for a periodic bitch-slapping.

Quick reply - it is extremely pathetic and sad that some people are stomping their feet and foaming at the mouth because their head of state was just awarded one of the coolest awards on the planet, instead of rejoicing and feeling a sense of pride and unity.

That. Is. All.

no one wants to agree with anything at the risk of losing their next election. its all politics again. sadly enough, at this point, if we had 16 gold medal winners today, someone would point out how undeserving as a country we are to have them... and heaven forbid if Obama attended to congradulate them... he should be off taking care of health care... that everyone is fighting him tooth and nail on... or dealing with wars that no one wants us to be involed in, and that we probably shouldnt have been involved in, but someone ekse thought we should.

Its a no win situation for the President. No matter what good he will do, try to do, he will never get the credit and someone will always be pointing oiut how he should be doing something else.

I don't think indignation is called for. The louder one shouts about the slights that their view has suffered, the less anyone is going to pay attention. Such tactics are why the GOP is currently enjoying a 30% approval rating in recent polls.

Keep up the good work. The left really appreciates it.

Too bad there isn't a way of seeing what would have happened if we had allowed AIG, Chase,. GM and Chrysler all go down the tubes in a matter of months. I personally think we'd be in a lot worse shape than we ended up.

I thought the banks were "bailed out" before Obama....

yep. just as i thought....

SEPTEMBER 16, 2008.U.S. to Take Over AIG in $85 Billion Bailout; Central Banks Inject Cash as Credit Dries Up

As far as my earlier comment, i was referring to the health care bill that seems to have stalled in the midst of the .. ahem... distortions.

Spinner, have you heard about Bankruptcy Laws?
That's what they're there for.
A company enters Bankruptcy and then either does or doesn't emerge whole out the other side.
If banks or insurance cos. fail other banks and insurance cos. will emerge to fill the void.
No co. is "too big to fail."
If Coca Cola or Boeing went out of business other cos. would emerge to fill the void.

Actually, having Senator Dodd as one's Senator is the most detested government program.  LMAO

Your president just got awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Anywhere else in the world, this would be a cause for celebration.

Here, however, it's just an excuse for pissing in each other's Corn Flakes.

What does it say about the state of the national psyche? Is  it just fucked, or is it well and truly fucked up? Regroup, people. Refuckingroup.

Oh, and wondering which one of my neighbors will be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize!
We'll be starting a pool.

In some countries it may be that one is proud to be given a trinket that one clearly doesn't deserve but in America where we frequently actually win the gold for many of our endeavors, someone just being handed some shiny object that clearly isn't deserved is rightly eyed with suspicion because there is always an ulterior motive, as there is in this case.

What is the congressional approval rating again? Oh yeah, that must be based on all those damned Republicans in congress.

For the record the last numbers that I saw where around 22% approval and 70ish% disapproval. Pretty damn impressive, I hope both parties keep it up. So maybe the everyday American might (I pray) look a little closer at just voting all of em out and starting fresh.

The best approval rating of all three branches is the Judicial, followed by the Executive, then by the Legislative Branch. Seems is has been that way for a long time.

Tis kind of sad, is it not? That the folks furthest away from the voice and vote of the people are the ones that are held in the highest regard, and those that the people can actually do something about... keep getting sent back to fail over and over again.

Hell, I may have to have a go at running for congress. Think the folks could look passed my kinkier side?
